Hi,
Our previous D100pro plays DSD via DOP, but the D300REF and D300 outputs native DSD from the RJ45 interface.

You see we have different line sequences for DSD and PCM, if you listen to DSD, then you can choose the one on the right because it can also play PCM.
I attach an article with below link talking about DSD, DOP and PCM, which is written by my boss, also the chief engineer of Soundaware.
http://www.sohu.com/a/222237159_121611

You may look at it, it should explain somehow about the problem and the reason that we customized a SAW_link interface for MR1 and P1. Words are Chinese, you may use google to translate, and I will translate it once I have time.

Thanks

Can I attach two 10TB hard disks seated in a powered USB hub to D300 Ref ?

Hi Lelsey,

Is it true that the D280 model is no longer in production?

Huy

Please can I ask whether the D300REF will 'see' all the SD-Cards in a multiple SD-Card 'hub' connected via the D300REF's usd port?

May I also ask, whether the on-board Roon core is able to 'catalogue' files stored on SD cards inside a connected hub and files on an sd card sitting in the built in sd card slot?

Many thanks.

Hi sorry D300REF can't read usb hub...

With regard to Roon, does a Roon Core run on the D300REF, so that files on the SD Card slot, and attached to the USB inputs, become navigable via the Roon app running on an iPad or iPhone?

I prefer to to only use music files directly attached to the D300REF, which is why I want/hope that I can use Roon on an iPad to catalogue local music files; are there any other IOS apps which can be used to access local files?

Can two usb drives be attached at the same time?

Does the D300REF ‘remember’ files it has catalogued after the unit has been in standby if the usb drives have not been disconnected?

Many thanks.

I've been slow doing the review of this unit, but I tried just now and there is a "share" point on the network created by the D300REF, which can be added to Roon, but it isn't the SD card, nor does the SD card appear in any mode that I can see.

Hi, many thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. The description of functionality in the link below, does state that, “...We can use mobiles, PADs and computers to search and play songs, start a playlist, manage files etc on D300REF.” But it is not clear whether that refers to local files on attached SD cards or usb drives. All the reviews I’ve seen, indicate that best audio quality is obtained from files on the SD card and local usb. I believe that local files can be accessed via the remote and display, but this is not necessarily the most convenient. Also, I read that the unit scans files each time a device is attached, with larger capacity media, this would not be the most efficient or convenient either. It would clearly be better, if the unit was able to remember and recall devices, and only scan for new files.

Hopefully, someone from Soundaware will be able to enlighten us further.

Hardware-wise, the D300REF looks excellent and state of the art; it maybe that the software functionality side is a work in progress!

I am also waiting for this info. Use SD card or local USB drive is also my preference. I don't really like using remote NAS, which always running. With regard to D280 still being in production, would the D300 be much better in sound quality?

Hi, I will be receiving my D300REF tomorrow, and will start to test it; I have never had a D280 so cannot comment; however, I am confident the D300REF will be a stellar performer, based on its hardware design and quality of components. It has also been highly recommended to me by Vinshine in Singapore which supplied my Denafrips Terminator, and this is the DAC I will use with the D300, and I understand that they match very well. The proof of the (Xmas) pudding will be in the eating, of course!
