Wow, you have pretty high demands for a "good headphone", Raven ! Do you rate LCD-3 that much better than LCD-X ? Or is it more of a sound signature preference ?

Great quotes from yugas and Maxvla - I think, I´ll  like Z7 !

More of a sound signature preference.  I think the X's biggest weakness is its tone.  Very muffled in the mids with glaring treble spike.

oh no... thats the headphone I was going to save pennies to try out here. Not a good sign.

Can someone please confirm if the ear pads are removable or not?

Thanks.

I didn't ask or think to try removing them, sorry. I had no problems with the pads. Comfortable and didn't make my ears hot even after a 20-25 minute session (pretty long for a trade show).

It's not about the comfort.  It's just that over time, the pads will begin to wear out.

If the Z7's pads are not user replaceable, that will pretty much be a deal-breaker, just like it was for me with the Philips X1.

Does anyone know how the Z7's soundstage compares to that of the venerable CD-3000?
