Can the 507 drive Z1R well? I have the W2 usb DAC amp and can do 235 mW@32 ohm so I am wondering how it will sound.

Well i have no 507 but A15. Lacks power bass is not as dull bodied as wm1A

They’re gems. No problem with mine. If a bunch of DMP-Z1 pop up, maybe I’ll pull the trigger. But below 450,000 yen. The MDR Can are safe

You’re going to love those. I’ve had mine for about 2.5 years now and I use them daily. Consider getting a better cable though. All that silver plating in Sony cables produces a very bright sound that may not be to everyone’s liking. Just don’t buy Sony branded Kimber Kable. Those tend to have a very short lifespan.

The ultimate cable is the DHC Prion4, but it costs more than the MDR-Z1R. Otherwise I would look for a quality OCC silver cable.

I use a Lavricables Grand that I prefered to the Kimber Axios CU but have not tried any other silver

Forza audio works. Good cables, and affordable. I use them with all my headphones.

The cable that has worked well for me is Nordost Heimdall 2. Although Nordost has recently stopped making those, some retailers are still offering them. It definitely removed those annoying treble spikes associated with female vocals, particularly F and S sounds. In a way it adds more air and widens the soundstage somewhat.

Just to be clear, those are my impressions while using these cables on the Sony TA-ZH1ES. I have no idea how well they will work with Chord Dave. I’ll post some impressions once it is fully burned in in a week or two.

Your earlier mention of that cable got me curious enough to look it up. It looked tempting but at the same time somewhat insane to pay that kind of money for a cable that I would use with two pairs of headphones. It was a lot easier for me to justify buying a Chord Dave and two streamers from Naim and Linn that cost 4 and a little over 3 times the price of that cable. Admittedly, this cable isn’t the most expensive either. Kimber Kable charges $4500 for a 2 meter silver braid.
