I am considering the Z1R to replace Mr Speakers Ether C closed. I cannot audition due to logistics of where I live, so really want to get it right first time not trying before buying. The Ether C were very transparent & musical, but lack in the bass response, so if the Z1R are in the same ballpark musically with good bass they will hopefully suit my requirements. Chord Hugo 2 will be driving them.
I’m also using the Hugo 2. I’ve had the Ether C and Ether C Flow and think the Z1R trounces the Ether C and is a bit better than the C Flow. The Ether C Flow has plenty of bass (more sub bass than the Z1R) but the 6-7k region is fatiguing for me with them.

I see you have the M Scaler, looking forward to your impressions with it and the Z1Rs if you ever get a pair.many thanks
Has anyone here used the M Scaler with the Z1Rs yet?
I would not purchase the z1r unless sony uk keep it up and lively and fully visible on the sony uk website no matter how i like the z1r. i'm concerned sony could be slowly withdrawing it maybe for a mk2 so why else would it possibly disappear from their site. this is a usual path for manufacturers.

That’s certainly possible. I think it’s more likely though that this was just a limited thing and they won’t have a comparable replacement for years as that has been the trend with Sony.
so if it's not advertised on the official site do you still buy from elsewhere?

i would if i wanted the headphone. the reality is that products are superseded eventually. the z1r will come with a warranty if you buy it new from an authorised retailer whether it is still in production or not.

many thanks i will phone sony to know what they're up to.
Haha I doubt you'll get any concrete answer from them, the Z1R, like the previous flagships of Sony are a headphone with years of research on it, so I doubt they'd make a successor off it so soon, I mean, where had they got the new things to do to it so soon?

I think this has to do more with the factory income than poetic years of research

Not much factory, the Z1R is hand build by Sony in Japan by a relatively small group of people

the guy at 1.08 starts to develop z1r during his internship !
I'm using the Sony/Kimber cable with my Z1R's. The all copper cable took the edge of the highs and tightened up the bass. I like the pairing and it's a much more enjoyable headphone.
Do you have the 1/4 or balanced 4pin xlr? Its not available in 4pin xlr? Have the 1/4 on the way. If i like it i would like one with 4pin xlr for my 430had. Axios is the only way to go for 4pin xlr?
