BTW both the WM1AM2 and WM1ZM2 are made in China, not Malaysia like the previous 2.

I expected that, they closed down the factory that was making the previous models last year and the factory that still exists in Malaysia is a chain for TVs. So TVs are still Made in Malaysia but i assume we'll never see a Made in Malaysia Walkman ever again.

Thanks hoofman! Maybe we might bump into each other at canjam this year!
Sure I'd love to. Walkman gang united.:beerchug:

Did you check out the DAC feature just now at the showroom? If I'm not mistaken this is the first time Sony introduces that on an Android DAP.

I just don't understand why there's such a difference price gap between the 1A and 1Z.

That 99.99% pure copper body costs a lot and is a PIA to mill into shape - they waste a lot of good and very pure copper just milling that chassis out from a solid block of copper, plus they the apply their special gold plating technique to it, it's many more layers of work to create that chassis.
Aluminium on the other hand is dirty cheap and super easy to work with, and anodising with a simple coating is simple work.

It's just a luxury product thing I guess? Even with the sound quality gap between the 1A/1Z mk 1 the price is still difficult to justify to many people.

Yes I can confirm that the USB DAC feature is present inside the W Music app.

I think most of us will stay at 1A / 1Z 250mw this is very disappointing!!!!
However you look at it, the limited output renders the player very restricted. I had the WM1A/Z, and frankly they paired horrendously with most headphones except especially easy ones. Even the Sony headphones sounded bad with the Sony DAPs.

250mw is only for hardcore Sony lovers. But for the rest of us, it's a bit of a joke especially given recent releases from FiiO (3w in the M17) plus impending releases from Cayin.
