The one week countdown begins.

The WM1A is already discontinued. NW-WM1Z is probably out of production and final units are being moved since large retailers are no longer carrying them and they can only be found in Sony stores
Weird enough, seems like the MDR-Z1R & IEM is still in production, stock across multiple stores online. I started to notice the lack of availability of the WM Daps in late summer-fall of last year.

I’m guessing that we are only going to see new daps and nothing else

Man, I just bought the MDR-Z1R to complete my set up and it is starting all over again😁 Can’t wait to find out, how they made great DAPs even better.

For better or worse they will almost certainly be Android based

R.I.P. in peace, Walkman OS, hahaha.

I understand DAP-makers moving to Android, it makes financial sense, but doesn't mean I like it. Easy for me to say though, as I'm a Luddite when it comes to streaming services. I have zero interest in them, unless/until they change.

The biggest barrier for me when it comes to potential purchase of the new Sony DAP is severe reluctance to dive back into the multi-kilobuck waters....been there, done that with A&K DAPs up through the AK380 Cu. I just don't have the appetite for this hobby as I did 5+ years ago. That said, the introduction of battery-sucking Android doesn't make me all that inclined to overlook the $$ and cents of it all.

MDR-Z1R is still in stock world wide, doubt they will refresh the headphone line.

Doubt the new DAPs will outperform the old ones in any major way other than streaming.

Yes I’m well happy with my 2 Z1R, 1Z and TA so will with near certainty not be buying any new models

I wonder if they will be more powerful?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the X507 more powerful than the WM1A? If that’s true, then I would think that the successor to the WM1A will be even more powerful.
Sony Daps tap out at around 250mw, very unfortunate, still rocking my Kann Alpha, but I would like to upgrade to the top of the line z1 or whatever follows it.

Ho yes, the next few months will be an epic battle of new TOTL, the Cayin N8ii, Shanling N9 and Sony 2Z! Man, I'm excited. I think my Sony 507 will soon be replaced and my wallet will be empty.
