Highly recommend 7 Hertz Timeless with CEW region. It got really good dynamic, so effin fast speed and transient, and thundering, rattling subbass. Timbre is superb A++. If you have better cables, it will perform so much better. Dynamic and bass is slightly less than Fir M5 with Eletech Illiad cable, but it can hold its own. With right tips, jvc spiral tips and cables and right synergy with CEW region, I’m pretty confident nothing below $1-1.5k can touch this. I would categorize Timeless with right tips, cables and CEW region to Fir NE4 iem in sound performance, not too far maybe about 90-95%

Thank you Tawek for recommending me CEW region. I adore the sound

And FYI, Fir Audio is the real deal
I use the Timeless with Final E tips and Dunu Blanche cable and that combo fed from my 1Z comes very close to my IER-Z1R with much the same kind of sound sig

Hi everyone, does DMP fw still makes sense for stock wm1z? For what I have been reading there are multiple versions, being the last one the FE2, is this correct? Thanks a lot in advance.

There is Dawn which essentially is a FEv3 which again essentially is the Bright signature of WalkmanOne but some say that they detect differences between them so you have to try for yourself

Thanks! Was wondering if there were noticeable or just subtle differences to give it a try, also read some issues with other headfiers and not sure if taking the risk (for what I understood it was due to not following instructions properly, but just in case)

There are slight sonic differences between the older versions of all the firmwares vs the newly ported Walkman one versions. The tunings were ported over as it is but due to some other factors like background processing, different dac modes and regions etc the sound may vary a little. But I would call them refined versions. The ones that are in Walkman one I mean.

Just slight refinements. Nothing major. And because Walkman one brings out much more features and customisations compared to the older tunings, I would recommend trying out the different sound signatures in Walkman one and playing around with the regions and dac settings, plus modes etc. There’s a myriad of different sound combinations you can achieve with Walkmans one compared to the older tunings.

I went back to stock rom just to check how is the actual WM1A signature sound, then I changed the region using rockbox to J, do I need to change back the region to E in order to flash Walkman One ROM again ?
No

Tried using high gain again in settings ( gain = 1 )
I don't think it's any louder than gain = 0, maybe 1 click up, or 1 click down, it's not noticable enough.

What it does change noticable is sound quality, it really sounds like the amplification delivers more power, guitars are crunchier, imaging is more distinct, treble opens up noticably, the sound goes from warm and dark to neutral, along with timbre being improved, and sounding less digital :) Personally much prefer it this way, can't wait to see what the even higher gain brings.

using wm1z tuning, mx3 region, and direct source on.

Just got wm1a from Japan and already enjoying the listening experience. Should i keep the stock Japanese firmware or use a custom firmware(how good is it)? And is the installation steps different when the reglion is locked (jp)?

Give the WalkmanOne fw a try once you have passed 200 hours and gotten used to the stock sound. WalkmanOne gives you several new features plus a multitude of ways to tune the sound to your preferences but only you can in the end decide what is best for you and there are users that stick to the stock fw (even to older versions of stock) as that gives them what they prefer so there is no definitive right or wrong

MX3 and J are the best imo. first thing you should do is put high gain in txt settings and try plus mode v2, that will bring the most noticable change
