The CAT, as they say it, is already out of the bag :)
Probably not good news forthe next iteration of the wm series, but then again, Sony has to be able to beat this firmware at the very least for it to be a good investment for most people.

Sony should be PROUD the fans are so happy and giving so many new lives to its super dap. This is love to wm1 daps and should be recognized by sony!

WOOW
are you saying the 1z + dmp-wm1 is perfectly tuned and soubds pretty much best with iems and sounds like real dmp 😎😎🤠🥳

How is tia noirs?

Haven't tried Noir yet, can't get the Odin out of my ears... It's incredible!

It's got that same DMP sound - beautiful vivid tonality in the treble and mids, huge soundstage, but with proper thumping bass :scream:

Still, I’m glad you could do a direct comparison. There’s much to love about the DMP-Z1. It is an audio engineering marvel.

But then I did some thinking and stared about my wife and puppy and told myself, I need to prioritize things. Better just to appreciate what I have, not just musically, but the people and pet I have in my life :)

MrWalkman, I'm having problems with the second half of the program. It's not starting the install process. Or maybe it's completed, how do I know?

I mentioned it in a post somewhere that with the first installation, the player should go into update mode and restart, and then you'll see "DMP-Z1" and "DMP-WM1" in the Unit information screen.

If this didn't happen, the second part won't work.

Woot woot! My Elysium's thank you! Enjoy some suds, on me!

Cheers man 🍻, I'm glad you like it, as well as others!

After @MrWalkman 's DMP-Z1 ports I'm inclined to think its more Sony software magic rather than engineering marvel.

There is a detail here which somehow goes in and excavates the actual texture of the instruments. I’m not going to start listing demo music, but let me list nuances.

Now, small bass fretboard or guitar fretboard finger tremolo embellishments are easily heard, yet I guess have always been there? :0 These subtle extras the musician knew and added but have not made the electronic transfer over to our ears until now.

Such an epiphany is taking place to finally hear the actual sound of these recordings; some I’ve known for 40 years. These experiences are readily found like gemstones on the beach. At times the songs become unrecognizable due to this utter distraction of elements. Some parts are new in the most profound and alien way; yet completely natural and in place. It’s a new reality and a new chapter in the MrWalkman story.

I’ve been in tears, but not due to my Wife hitting me for ignoring her.

There's still some hardware in the DMP-Z1. The WM1A/WM1Z players can only get so far close, and I'm sure they would benefit from hardware mods.

Definitely man... Family first :) DMP can wait. You probably don’t even need it now. I mean, it doesn’t sound exactly the same, but it’s close enough!

Guys, how would the difference between A50 and WM1 be characterised with both tuned to DMP? Hardware differences show up?

I have a gut instinct that this IS the final firmware update. Perfection cannot be superseded.
