Did you try moving it like I suggested?

It seems to be locked at the top of the screen. I can't move or delete the bar.

It is a widget, and you can do as Duncan suggested. I removed mine immediately.

Is it definitely a widget? The Google bar is acting like it's part of the OS!

I used Nova launcher. I just tried with stock, it is locked. You could install a custom launcher like Nova. Looks a bit nicer, better icon packs, etc. I'll see in the meantime if there is some way with stock

I've tried every thing. can't get it to go away with stock launcher. it's been a while since I've used a stock launcher, sorry. It can't be removed. Nova, Apex are both excellent alternatives. Won't slow you down or take up many resources.

My Google search bar is not there, I think you have to do a power cycle once the app has been disabled.

I ended up installing Nova launcher - much happier with the way it is set up now. Just one screen, with music player and Spotify widgets, radio player app and a couple of others.  It feels more like a DAP and not a mobile/tablet!  Thanks for your help.

I just got home from work a few minutes ago. Went through everything, and I was able to get it to work. I think I was only pay half attention, and just uninstalled the updates, not realizing I didn't select disable. Mine is gone, but still using Nova anyway.

Just got into your settings>apps>all Then scroll down and click on each app you want to disable, click disable on top right.

Folks that are using the Nova launcher, have you noticed any impact on battery life?

Really hard to say for me since I've not used the stock launcher at all. I seriously doubt it has any impact at all. I've never noticed it on any of my phones, I don't see why this would be different.
