Well Hong Kong is going through more important stuff right now which affects how business operates as well as their sales projections and marketing tactics.
I forgot about HK situation.

Hi guys. I am deciding between Sony A105 and ZX500. My use case is to listen to sensitive IEMs on the go. I am trying hard to justify extra 500eur for the more expensive model. I hope to have a chance to listen to both of them in near future. So my simple question: is the extra 500eur worth it?

Unless someone has confirmed both its not an easy question on SQ.

I went for it over the ZX500 as I didn't need balanced with my SE846's and want smaller, lighter and the longer battery life. I also prefer the design.

For me the A105 SE sounds better than the ZX300 I had over SE or balanced. Obviously no good if you have demanding headphones. I've posted a lot on the A105 in the 40th Anniversary thread.

It's 200mW per channel, they don't combine. ie 200mW output for left channel and 200mW for right channel.

I thought it was combined and = 400mw
Are you saying other daps that show 500mw for example is also one channel and does not combine?

If it's the balance output, then usually the output power number refers to per channel.

Yes its balanced but why is it not 400mw? Or all companies tell the value per channel only?

Because in a balanced circuit the left and right channel are completely separate, so technically they do not combine at all so it would be strange to list the power output as the sum of both channels.

Did any of you who purchased the Sony ZX500/505/507 try the hiss test with the Campfire Andromeda? I'm especially interested to know if it hisses more or less than the ZX300, and if it is acceptable at all. Thank you!

hi, I have it (Jap version) and with balanced output and high gain hiss is 98% absent. Using Andro gold. 100% acceptable and a great pairing. Only tried the 300 in passing some time ago with green v1 or v2 so I can't make a comparison for you

Hi,

I am currently using the Fiio FH7 with my iPhone X. (w/ Fiio i1 Lightning Adapter)
What will suit this IEM's better, the A105 or ZX507?
Will I notice a better sound with the ZX507?

I use Amazon Music HD as my Music Library.

Thanks in advance!

Finally got my Japanese version via eBay. Only tested with SE at present on high gain with Andromeda Golds. The sound is fantastic, digs down deep, good separation. Only quick thoughts but this pairing is no issue and hiss is no problem to my ears. Using volume at about 50-70 depending on recording level, plenty more power available. I intend to get a balanced cable for the Andro’s but unsure which way to go at present. Player is also much smaller than I imagined, easily fits in the palm of your hand. Tidal sounds awesome too!
Will post more as I get used to it.

Good to hear, can you share how good the battery life is? Thanks!

I’ve only charged it once so far, mixture of tidal and music from micro sd card using Sony Walkman app. I’m currently on 65% battery, used for about 6 hours plus lots of android set up etc. I would imagine you’re looking 10-11 hrs of tidal etc, offline will be more. I think it’s a matter of tweaking Android by disabling most of the apps you won’t use. Certainly not bad, but not as Sony advertise. Having come from an SR15 I would say it’s on par or better. Only initial impressions.

Using the Andro Golds, the SR15 drove them well enough and sounded good. The ZX507 definitely sounds better. Who knows how much better when fully burned in, (this is only SE at present) time will tell. Warm and deep, yet detailed and airy, hard to describe but I think Sony have nailed it, so small too.
