my apologies to @superuser1 ,yes, you are right, it would be one of the things that i would right away check out, but sometimes theres comments that are rather demanding than a suggestion, good thing is that there will be a stock fw with a couple of the mods. tbh, the ++ on wm1a didnt made much of a difference in battery life.

Hello,

The stock firmwares (2.00, 2.01, and 2.02) received the album cover fix as well.

They can be found here: CLICK

From the last update log of the mods:
"All album covers should now show up fine. No more conversions of progressive JPEGs to baseline JPEGs, or of interlaced PNGs to non interlaced PNGs are needed."

Does this mean more power for output? i.e. from 200mW to 250mW or just a volume increasing?
otherwise , big thx for the mod.

Should be just more volume.

From my experience it's something like 80 becomes 85, approximately. So 120 will should be around 125.

macOS users rejoice.

Sony silently updated the installer for the WM1A and ZX300 to support macOS 10.15. On the download page it now states:

Operating Systems
The latest version of the firmware update is compatible with most commonly used versions of Mac OS:
IMPORTANT: Not supported by operating systems other than specified below.
  • macOS 10.13 - 10.15
I just verified in the code that they are now loading the USB driver from the correct location for Catalina.

Great news! Well, if they come up with an official firmware that sounds better than @MrWalkman's then that's the only time I'll use the official site. Of course, this compatibility update will be of better use to you guys developing custom firmwares or modified ones, and to those who refrain from such and only put faith into official releases.

I would like to try this "new" firmware by MrWalkman but I can't seem to find the .dmg file for Mac users, only .exe files... ehr..dunno what to do.

Currently there is only Windows installers. You can run a Windows VM on macOS and install the firmware that way.

I may not be recollecting this right, but I thought @MrWalkman posted that an associate of his who tests the firmware had come up with a means for Mac users to download the software. 🤔

I’m still burning in my ZX300, so I’m not going to download the firmware until after I’m done and have had some time to hear the ZX300 fully settled.

By the way, I recently bought an Empire Odin and tried my Sony to drive it, sounds pretty good! 😁

I'm the person doing the macOS installers. We had run into an issue that once the installer got uploaded to Google Drive it stopped working.

I will be doing testing with the new official Sony installers this weekend and will keep everyone posted.
