Hi

Ah not available in the US :frowning2: Thanks though for the link.

How do you guys feel about the pioneer 300R or Onkyo DP thingy? They are similarly priced but the latter DAPs have wifi and access to streaming apps like Tidal. Of course they also run Android and their batteries suffer because of it

EDIT: I mean in comparison to the Sony

Guys, just out of curiosity, I have a question especially for those who use overhead cans with zx300.

Can you briefly share your experience if you prefer low gain or high gain and why?

I have been switching back and forth between HG and LG since i got zx300 and even before, on other devices I was doing the same and still can not decide which one I prefer, both sounds very different from each other though. Technically low gain should give the cleanest undistorted sound but in practice it isnt that srltraightforward.

In my opinion, balanced sounds much better than SE. The gain setting will be driven by your headphone (and of course how loud you like to listen). My Sony Z7's use balanced high gain, with volume averaging 55 to 65 (out of 120) depending on the music. Older stuff seems to need more power. I finally got a balanced cable for my Meze 99's. They are so easy to drive that I can't use high gain in balanced mode. I run 60 to 70 in low gain and they sound awesome. I expect my new HE4XX's will require high gain and might hit the highest numbers so far.
I do not listen loud, but I sometimes go for many hours.

Just one opinion and I am sure you will get more. There are already quite a few in this thread, if you go right through it. Of course that may take a while.:grinning:

The ZX300A has just turned up on massdrop
*I just checked the price and I don't think it is as good as joybuy, but at least you can choose black and get it to the states

Thanks for the answer... I don't change gain settings because of loudness, they just sound so different for me that it is like listening to 2 different DAPs..

Not a bad deal, but not really great. I got my ZX300 on sale in Canada (Sony sale) for $699.00. This one, with less than $5.00 shipping, would be about $640.00 in Canadian $'s. Of course the regular price was $799.00 up here, so compared to that it looks pretty good.

It really is a great machine. If someone has already decided, it is a nice little bonus.

The only time I have noticed a really large difference is SE to Balanced.

The BD price is not a real deal at all. They are just selling it at the MSRP. On the other hand, the zx300a was $289 on joybuy for 11.11.

Wow, now THAT is a deal!
