Hmm, that's rather confusing then as it works fine with my other set up.

I have an AK120 (Mezzo mod) and I go from TRRS on the AK to Kobiconn on my F-35 Lightning amp. If I connect the same TRRS connector to my ZX2 the issues begin

Am I missing something silly here?

A&K uses a different termination on their plugs

AK wireing is diffrent from Sony. I have somewhere in this thread posted a chart with a number of the different schemes

Ah, thanks Whitigir. So the cable I'm currently using is non-standard then?

Thanks nc8000, any idea roughly how far back that post might be?

Not really. Could be 6 months or more. I can't find the chart atm.

So, if it is 4.4mm TRRS...where in the hell can I buy the plug for DIY cables. I mean, we just have to stick to Sony again, right ? Because there is 0 anything that use 4.4mm as far as I know
look again, the new JEITA is not a TRRS 4 pole but a 5 pole one.
L+, L-, R+, R-, GND.

Someone extrapolate the exact diameter size of the balanced output from the 3.5mm

you need to ask for the zx2 / hifiman 901s / cowon plenue TRRS termination

all these 3 DAPs use the same trrs termination

if you see for instance here a cable being sold as 'hifiman 901 balanced' it's good for the zx2

I love Toxic cables. Franks made loads up for me.

I will make sure to let him know the correct termination I need

Hi guys, as a satisfied  ZX2 owner, I would expect from the successor just all that improvements we're speaking here since long time, as more power, true balanced output (that seeing the last pictures it should has..) ,no longer versions with  that "stupid" volume cap, direct DSD reading capablity and, who knows, what other pearls!.....Even if to beat the ZX2 performances in term of SQ will be not a simple task, for sure it is possible for Sony, the issue is: at which price? The supposed 2K $ or more? Anyway to me is more like a marketing trouble than a  real production and development cost: they will set the retail price according to their expected business plan.
So the only thing we can do  is to put our soul in peace because many of us already know that we'll start to save money from the 1st September, convincing ourselves that the new toy is a need....as for the wifes with the thousandth pair of shoes......you don't think so?

Yeah, big deal ! Gold Walkman to impress against Copper AK
biggrin.gif
, Balanced on a portable...so gotta engraved a big ass word on it "Balanced". I guess the other end is the hole where you can pour some exotic drink out of it

Anyways, good looking Walkman . Be glad that Sony is back in the game, and without Sony, we wouldn't have this
biggrin.gif
. Who want to be the earliest adopter

OH No....another new "standard" !

Yeah, just what we all needed another giant plug, with a new standard for balanced, from one extreme, to the other. At least it's not the fragile tiny 2.5mm plug.

I was thinking dual 3.5mm balanced then why sony released XBA Z5 AND MDR Z7 with a cable for balanced with dual TRS plugs instead of a single TRRS?

If sony will release 3 walkmans then the A series will be the cheapest then perhaps one priced like the zx100 or the zx2 and the new ultra premium, who knows

if pricings are exhorbitant I go for the one in the middle or get a zx2, also, hope the quality is better than that of the zx100, hope the leather thing is removed and made full metal back

Ok.... Now you guys have an other hint here.... But none of the expert eyes have noticed it yet... Look closer and you should see something unusual

Is it balanced with dual 3.5mm output like the stock cable on the MDR-Z7, and PHA-3?
