Any adapter can be made specially ordered and with correct terminals....the thing is that AK style is a complete reverse and awkward vs Sony zx2 lol.....this will make the adapter to have to go round, and round, and round, before it reach it terminals correctly. I say just get another cable, or stick with one set-up. So sound degradation is less.

Ever think about cables can improve the quality ? Solder joints is another matter, and.....solders after solder, after solders...is never a good idea. Keep it minimized as much as you can. I need portability and upgraded to removable jacks which can be extended out for movies, and swapped to shorter one for portability hence I need removable cables

Presenting th900 removable cable as and genuine leather covers for the wires :D. Portability ? Absolutely.

Are all TRRS plug a straight one? I haven't seen a right angled TRRS plug, which I would need given how the ZX2 slots into my pants, a straight plug would be too much pressure on the solder.

No, definitely not. My plugs are all "L" shaped, because I need to use the strap on zx2 pouch to lock it in position and minimizing the wear and tear on the jack :D

Right angle do exist as I have seen them in this thread but seems to be rare

Mine is right angle.
Got cable with option for right angle from Moon Audio.
I wanted right angle for same reason

One thing I don't like about the right angle plug is that it's easy to snag the plug twisting it sideways.(ring marking the plug eventually)
I also think if you put thick cables into the case this can also put unwanted stress on the female 3.5mm plug, if it's a 90 degree plug.

I like those really short type strait plugs you see on some custom cables, and I think that's the best type for general usage, but they come from a moulded type production, and I haven't seen any for DIY.

How could it snag or spin sideway if you use the strap ?

Where the cable is around that clip it can push a fair bit of sideways force in the delicate plug, (this might be fine for you), but that small amount of movement in the case can put even more stress on the plug.
If your going mobile, or jamming this ZX2 in a pocket, I wouldn't think the plug will last long.

It has been just fine for me in the pocket and all :). I just couldn't stand the straight plug spinning like crazy in there, so I rather to have it strapped in and secured.

I agree, it's better to have it secure, especially when there's some weight in the cable, which will stop it spinning, the problem is you need the case to stop it.

I think those tiny stumpy plug's would be ideal for fine lighter cables. (Can't remember the company that only use them, eastrum?)

Yes, the case...the bad thing is that it is a pouch....so I had to cut it open to access the screen...lol

Haha, yes nice handy work.

There needs to be other case options, one that holds the cable in place as well, the Sony plug isn't a firm gripping socket like others female sockets I've used, it has a light grip.
But non the less, gets the job done

This is how my zx2 stays in the pocket during travel with the cables and the secured strap. No strain on the cables at all!

And actually since the last time that I enabled the "sound adjustment" app...I didn't realized it right away as the trick to increase the volume on Onkyo player and gone mad satisfied me....my brain started to crave for that lower-trebles energy, air, and details again.....I was like what the heck. Let's disable it again....and here it is, my music breathes once more....

My ghost....this freaking "sound adjustment app" lol. I think just as soon as it shows some "effects"...it will "gimp" down the zx2 true potential.

I purchased the Sony nw-zx2 in April when they first became available. I returned my first one because it had short battery life. But i have use this player for months. It met all the needs I was seeking in a portable player. Great sound quality, well built, android based, streaming music, Audible books, large storage capacity and all day battery life. I have used it via Bluetooth to stream music to my home speaker.

But because i like the latest and greatest, i kept reading and searching for the Replacement, the player that would be better at all the things i loved about the Sony nw-zx2. There seemed to be challengers, so i waited and waited to buy them, but not one has the Combination of all the things i personally wanted from my portable player. I don't have headphones that are hard to drive, nor do i listen at super high volume levels so i dont need more power. And i wont sacrifice a little better sound quality for short battery life and no streaming. And streaming music is a must. I have been exposed to so many new Artist on Tidal since I've had the Sony. I store the music at its highest quality on the device and i put my ripped flac music on the 128 sd card.

I was listening to the Sony with my Oppo PM-3 today and the experience was so delightful that i really just started to appreciate just what a technical achievement that Sony pulled off. This is just a Great Portable music player. All my headphones sound amazing with it, Westone W60, Phillips Fidelio X2 and now the Oppo PM 3. Of course, i could add the Chord Mojo for home use, and some day i will. But i just wanted to praise this wonderful device.

Bravo to Sony.
