You will go through an even worse period if you buy PHA-3 and or DOCK.

That's guranteed not to happen - its an expenditure I just can't afford!

I previously owned the W60.  Although I sold mine over a year ago and did not have the ZX2 at the time, my gut says it will have no problem.  I recall the sensitivity of it to the K10 that replaced it and the K10 is easily driven by the ZX2(I feel safe saying the ZX2 by comparison could easily drive the W60)..  I also imagine the ZX2 would be a good sonic match for the W60s sound.

That sounds good as I was originally planned to get the SE846 with the ZX2 as I heard there are great synergy between them. But now I got a great offer on W60+ZX2, and would to confirm whether W60 would sound on par of what it is capable of from the ZX2 alone without driven by an extra amp.

Have you heard the W60 and SE846?  I have owned them both and they could not be more different.  If you prefer the SE846 but don't want the impedence issues, then look at the K10.  The W60 is good but it's sound is not for everyone.
