A57 Japan model has FM radio? Is that the only model?

All A50 models except the L variants (eg A55L) have FM radio. Actually if you change the region on the L variant the radio magically comes back. Profit :)

I have two cables, WM-port to 3.5mm & to 2xRCA, and they work fine with the original firmware but do not with the modded.

I was told here that the A55 had no analogue out - that's incorrect, I don't know where it came from.

I have now the DMP-50 firmware running and just tested it. The WM port does have an analogue out, I connected the A55 (running the DMP50) to my Topping amp using a WM-port to 3,5mm cable and it plays well.

The DMP50R messes more with the internals, it disables several functions in the original fw, so maybe the WM out function is also disabled (but I had the DMP50R and the WMport-to-usb micro chain worked - see this post Post #919 of 1,153 )

Thanks for informing me. I'll try soon out the non-R fw when I back home.

Interesting. I tried it on my 1Z and ZX2 when I had that and there is no analog out on those so I assumed it was the same on the A series but I no longer have the WMport to 3.5 adaptor to try on the A55

Very interesting. I disabled battery care, let the player fully discharge and then fully charge. After this I have now played 10 hours and had 2 days stand by and have yet to drop the first segment of the battery indicator. With battery care enabled I repeatedly only got about 10 hours play time and 3 days stand by on a charge. This on an almost new A55.

Now 13 hours played and 3 days stand by and still 4 bars on the battery icon

Dropped the first bar on the battery indicator after 15 hours play time and 4 days stand by

Did you switch the "battery save" back on after the full charge? I think what you (and I) did is called recalibrating the battert

Yes I switched battery saver on again after the charge so will be interesting to see what time I get on the next charge. The second bar dropped after only another 3 hours play time and 1 day of stand by so deffinately not linear.

And yes this is recalibrating though it should not have been needed for a virtually new unit

I confirmed with a Sony product rep that Sony recommends fully discharging the battery every month or so. This will help the battery monitor recalibrate itself. It can get out of whack when you constantly recharge at different battery levels. So yes turn off battery care, charge full and run till battery is dead. Then turn back on battery care and recharge and you should get a pretty accurate battery indicator.

Battery finally gave up after 30 hours play time and 7 days stand by, now that’s much better

Hi guys, I've ordered a NW-A55L which should be arriving later, can someone please link the firmware required to remove the volume cap please? Many thanks!

There is no firmware which removes the volume cap.

You need to change the region to another one other than CEW/CEW2.

Hello, guys. This is my first post ))) I know, that A50 is unable to apply sound settings and EQ to bluetooth headphones. Is it the same story for alternative firmware?
