Sony MDR xb1000? NEw? OMG

Had the headband been colored black then I'd easily have thought an XB500 was standing next to it, it looks so small next to this monster. ^^ This is gonna cover almost your entire side, hope it won't become too warm with THAT big pads. With that big space created between the ear and the driver I bet this will have a very airy sound/large soundstage. I just hope it still will deliver in the bass, with such a pricetag it's slightly worrying and they might have gone for less bass and try to focus more on highs and mids like when you look at everything else except if you're Monster company ofc.

It's understandable that 70mm drivers will come with a price premium for now though as it's not been used before and there's probably gone a little budget into R&D too, $150 or so had been nice to see though and it had probably sold really well for that price. I mean $150 would be the optimal spot for the ultimate headphone for bass experience. If it had been $150 or cheaper I'd buy it without needing to read any review, with this price I'm gonna wait for reviews. Hopefully headroom.com will receive them, I'd be very interested in seeing a frequency response graph on these and see how it compared to XB500/700. ;p

Even for $400, I'm still getting it. Of course, it better live up to the $400 price tag. But from a production stand point, it's price would probably be around $250, since a $400 headphone would make a huge demand gap. More concretely, The XB700 would compete against the ATH-M50 and others, while the XB1000 would compete with the Denon AHD 5000 and others at $400; then, there would be nothing to compete against the Denon AHD 2000, the Beyerdynamic DT 770, and a lot of other good bass headphones.

Hope Merdril will be kind enough to write up a review on these, the one he did on the xb700 was great and right on the mark!

Looks like jp.sonystyle is already selling it less than the MSRP.  Maybe a pre-order discount?

Does Sony Style JP ship to U.S.?

That's like $300 or $285 without the tax included from Sony itself which is always a bit expensier compared to buying from a big retailer. Hopefully we could still get it for like $250 or I hope 200~230 EUR in europe.

Any news, info, pics or whatever?

I only found this pic that hasn't been shown around here yet and reveals yet again it's size. I must say though despite the size it also looks somehow so much better compared to the previous XB headphones. I thought XB500/700 would look silly if you wear them in public but with these it looks much more badass instead (hopefully it can convert a few Beats drones out there). I doubt people will have trouble fitting their ears inside with these, perhaps you could fit 2 ears inside even. xD

^ I feel jealous of this man, how I wish I could try them out too. ^^
