SONY IER-Z1R

Let the games begin!

Don't hold back. And damn, they're quite big compared to the Andromeda.

BTW, I ordered a pair from one of the European Amazon sites that obviously have none in stock right now. The price was good and I figured I'll have plenty of time to cancel.

Guess it lost your little comparison thing?
I'm still rolling with mine though. Don't see much overlap with what the Z1R can accomplish.
Needed to cut it short. But could get a few good points on Hip-Hop and Classic and progressive rock and some Jazz. Didn't get to Pop and OST, sadly.

But my main finding is that some are the best at the moment, until you put side by side. The impressions change a bit.

I will share here some comments on that tomorrow.

Ps.: Wasn't sad to let go early the once "best IEM I had".

yeah, not sure how he got there. Z1r + ZX300 is like put an old lady to drive an sports car on a track, it will do it, but not using the potential of the car/earphone.

Reading this review, reminded my current gear and old ones. I think a good match for the Z1r would be the X7mkII, it is dead flat dap, leaving all the sound show come from the Z1r that is colourful enough to do it on an enjoyment level. that is basically comparing to my DX7s dac/amp that is also quite flat and the details it brings from the Z1r is good. don't know, I tend to think that as more warmer the source is, warmer the Z1r will be, shading even more it's mids. But we are talking about Sony, they match their gear (at least on the high level ones).

Have zx300, wm1a and other DAPs. ZX300 sounds very good actually with Z1R, compared to wm1a, mids a bit forward/pronounced, stage a bit less wide, but a bit deeper.

So many former Andromeda S users in here :D Mine included. I got a very good deal from stereo Singapore. Got a iFi micro iDSD Black Label for free.

This has become the Head-Fi chapter of Campfire Anonymous.

That is actually a really good deal. But that's the hobby life, let one go to let another one come.

Moving this weekend, but will put together my thoughts this week. As I said, only got Hip-hop, classic/progressive rock and some Jazz. Probable not everyone's tastes. Spoiler, Andro was rated 4 between the 4. :)

If Hip-Hop was replaced by Heavy Metal, then the ranking would've been highly relevant for me. Still interested to hear detailed thoughts.

Bass and Andromeda do not go in the same sentence!
