Pardon me Grand Master, but on a serious note, have you ever considered offering your own reshell service?

The re-shell service is a difficult issue to address.  For example, lets say a guy sends me a repaired product, I open it up & discover that some of the numbers on the drivers are removed. Now I inform the owner, that the driver is not an original driver...  the owner say's, "No problem, go ahead with the re-shell."  So I finish off th re-shell & send it back to the customer.  Then the customer says the sound has changed.....

Who is liable?  How much change are we talking about, because realistically the sound should change to a certain degree.  Does the customer have a valid complaint?

Then there are the "used" CIEMs that folks do not know the real history behind the product. The product could be very abused, could have heavy mostture exposure, all the wires essentially decayed. So now this becomes a re-shell, and a repair job. Then the solid color shells....   a night mare to open, because when u r drilling them out, cutting them open etc... you really are not sure where the components are, wires, pcb, caps, resisitors....  alll a mystery.

Lots of issues, all addressed and resolved for 90$

I am not saying I would NEVER do it, but I am saying that it is not a simple task.

Another problem is if I were to damage a proprietary driver

I could not buy a replacement, Knowles/Sonion would not sell me the driver....

adding drivers takes a lot of research, specifically on other companies products (reverse engineering)

the customer would be liable, if you wrote it that way in your policy.   You are an artist working a piece of art, changes can and will occur and the buyers will have to understand this before they order from you.  I do not think many people will make trouble with you due to the amazing work seen here.  Its art, first and foremost.  i say go for it and reap the benefits, the work is too good to keep from the public haha just make sure all of that is covered in any policies and such and you wont have too many problems
