Softears - Discussion & Appreciation
Oct 20, 2021 at 2:42 AM Post #781 of 1,600
Hi friends!
I loved Softears RSV so much that I ordered myself a CIEM version. What I want to add to what I wrote and reviewed earlier about RSV IEM, now the CIEM option, in addition to convenience, also adds an improvement in the dynamics of sound and better construction of the virtual space (sound stage). Naturally, with the correct selection of tips, the difference between IEM vs CIEM is minimal, but small qualitative changes made RSV even better for me. In general, I believe that these are probably the best CIEMs in the price category under $ 1000, and possibly even higher. As I wrote earlier, I love RS10 and cerberus - these IEMs are great! But RSV has become my favorite all-round workhorse for every day after a long time of use.
This can be compared to the fact that I have several chic planar Headphones, for example, the Hifiman HE-6, but have been using and loving my Beyerdynamic DT 250 250 ohm for many, many years for their comfortable, monitor and extremely musical sound.
In general, the Softears are great!

some our BAs are designed by softears and moondrop engineers, (the midrange used by blessing2,s8,solis,RS10,Cerberus), and also the passive driver for Cerberus and RS10.
But we don't produce them ourselves, we commission these from another BA manufacturing company.
Does the name of the company who commission these start with K?

Satin Audio Medusa
Thank you very much. This is a great cable on the RSV and it is not very expensive. I am in the process of breaking the Medusa and RSV in together, They were nice out of the box, but with about 50 hours they are great. Listening to a lot of Patricia Barber with these.

Does that eliminate two manufacturers or one? 🤔
Not sure which are you referring.
If knowles… we don’t have that capacity.
Local suppliers are much more convenient when we are planning something proprietory.

Taking the Cerberus for a spin. Will switch out to one of the balanced cables I have and let’s see how it goes. :) Special thanks to @Uncle Wilson from Jaben SG for the demo.

I have been also listening to the Turii today in between meetings. Again thanks to @Uncle Wilson and Jaben SG. I am a big fan of single DD IEMs because so much turns on the tuning skills of the maker as well as the R&D behind the shells, the delivery systems etc.

I had a bit of a struggle with the shell and the angle of the sockets for the 2 pins. So I gave up and went back to stock cable. I am very pleasant surprised. I have decided to use JVC Spiral Dots. Works nicely.

Obviously it is early days yet. But I am very impressed with my initial listening. It also reminded why I always have a soft spot for single DDs. The Turii is very emotive and articulate at the same time. Beautiful timbre, excellent layering & separation and good soundstage. More listening will be required obviously. But very good first impression indeed! :)

The Turii scales up beautifully out of the Luxury & Precision LP6. Now I know why I have the 6.25mm adaptor lying around.

Just quick adding: the Turii is also excellent out of the AK SP2000Cu. Playing it right now at volume 70. Great synergy. Being played out of the SP2000Cu, you get to hear how transparent the Turii actually is. And yet so musical. This single DD IEM is a real revelation! :)

Figured that since I also had the Shanling EM5 (also on demo thanks to @Uncle Wilson and Jaben SG), thought I‘d take the Turii out for a spin on it as well. Volume 25 on high gain (there are 4 gain levels). Pretty good. Soundstage scales up with the EM5. Drives the Turii very well. :)

Great that you've been able to spend some time with the Turii.... Your comment about how transparent it is while remaining very musical is exactly what catches me every time I listen to it.
