Yes these forced constellations are a PITA...

I have a 4K capable projector (not native 4k but pixel shifting).
What's interesting here: The 4k content is almost always also HDR. My projector seems to have problems with HDR streaming content (ONLY streaming contents, no issues with 4k UHD discs), I get more banding and pink colorations in white areas such as clouds etc. I tried many settings, the Fire Stick fortunately allows many things to set (like 8,10 or 12 bit color coding etc.). The only thing that helped to mitigate the problem somehow is to set the resolution of the Fire stick to 1080p. Since my projector is not native 4k I don't see much difference.
I still have HDR (with less banding and less strange coloration) and I still have Atmos. Ok, HAD Atmos on D+.
But for the Rings of Power show on prime this tweak also worked.
But I think your display device still needs to signal the streaming device that it's 4k capable to get Atmos?
Maybe a fake EDID may help, with a device like this: https://hdfury.com/product/dr-hdmi-4k/
Don't know exactly.

However prime has the infuriating rule that you must have a 4k display to receive atmos (I run a 1080p projector). I’ve heard that rings of power have a stellar atmos mix with heaps of moving objects. Annoying that I can’t experience it…

Oh, that explains it. I thought Prime had made a change, but it is due to my new TV.

A hdfury vertex or similar to prpoerly and automatically set the gamma of your projector may be a good idea. Search hdfury jvc macro on avs.

The Vertex is more likely to work, because it can downscale 4k to 1080p. However it does not convert HDR to SDR, and it is unclear if the requirement is 4k or HDR or both.

I use a $30 splitter that spoofs the EDID to the AppleTV to convince it there is a 4K display connected, even when the only thing connected is the A16, that way, Apple Music plays in Atmos. I posted the info and link on this thread before; the product is by EZCOO (so search for that).
I also use one in my HT, as it has a 1080p video chain but a full Atmos speaker system. The splitter downscales to 1080 on one of the outputs, and retains the Atmos stream.

CSV processor experience and new A16 Firmware 2.14.

I did some tests with the new CSV processor capability of the A16 to load the A16 with customized listening rooms, system settings and user presets and I can tell you it is a brilliant addition to the A16 !

During tests I identified two CSV processor issues with the current (official) Firmware 2.12 as follows:
  • Firmware 2.12 will require the HPEQ files to be present in the ‘hpeqs’ as well as in the ‘prirs’ SD card directory; otherwise, the CSV processor will not find the HPEQ file and will replace it with the factory default HPEQ.
  • Firmware 2.12 will not load PRIR files measured on another A16 – be the PRIR file locked or not locked. If a PRIR file measured on another A16 and is locked, the CSV processor will load the BBC file as it is described in the CSV PDF manual. If the PRIR file is not locked, the CSV processor will stop processing and the A16 needs to be power cycled (you will have to remove the SD card otherwise the A16 will again try to load the files and will stop processing at the same point).
I reported those two issues to Stephen Smyth. Stephen confirmed those two issues and created a new Firmware version 2.14 he shared with me to test. Firmware 2.14 works perfectly with the CSV processor now and both issues have been resolved by Stephen (a BIG THANK YOU to Stephen !). I asked Stephen if I am allowed to share the Firmware 2.14 file with others and he gave his agreement. He is now working on some other topics and the next official version he will name version 2.15. I copied Firmware version 2.14 to the Google drive at https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1xXAWPJhc0bowyid-j_SxvulLg_w9tUHy - please feel free to test and use it.

Coming back to the CSV processor functionality:

It is such a great simplification to configure an A16 (if you have multiple A16, it is even better) !

I created 8 listening rooms for ATMOS, PCM, DTS and AURO each, combined those on several user presets with different HPEQ manSPKR, manLOUD and autoEQ files for easy comparisons. I combined the three D&D 8C PRIRS of jazzfan (for the different channels) and added other PRIRS to the A16 as well – all configured by the CSV capability.

Now what is the great simplification ? If I do a factory reset on the A16, with the CSV files prepared, I just have to let the A16 process those CSV files during the next reboot and the A16 is back with all my user presets, listening rooms etc. No longer spending hours to recreate everything after a factory reset ! Think of the next Firmware we have to install...... - no worries, it is just easy now :)

If I want to redefine the user presets (eg: other sequence of the different user presets): I just change the numbers in the XLS file, store it as a new CSV file on the SD card, reboot the A16 and it is done.

I highly recommend trying and using the CSV capability!

This is a really cool addition to the A16 capability and makes reconfiguring an A16 so much easier.
Rene

When a new firmware for the Realiser A16 is available, the downloaded firmware file is named FIRMA001.SVS. The firmware version 2.14 Oct 19 2022 copied by @Rene Lou to the Google drive is named FIRMA001 (4).SVS. My question to @Rene Lou is a follows: have you changed the file name from FIRMA001 (4).SVS to FIRMA001.SVS before coping it into the realiser folder on your SD card?

Hi GeorgeA
No, I copied the file with that name (FIRMA001 (4).SVS) to the SD card and the A16 loaded the new firmware without any problem.

In my experience, A16 firmware files are named FIRMA001.SVS. If I download new firmware to a folder containing a single previous firmware version then the new download is named FIRMA001 (1).SVS. If the folder already contains 4 previous firmware versions then the previous firmware versions in the folder are named FIRMA001.SVS, FIRMA001(1).SVS, and so on, and the newest downloaded firmware file is named with “(4),” as above. It sounds like it functionally doesn’t make a difference regarding loading the new firmware. Still, I delete the previous firmware from the microSD card when adding in new firmware.

One thing to add in regards to the CSV processor: What you can not configure with CSV files at the moment (since there are no tables in the XLS) are:
  • Auro-3D setting (in Misc settings)
  • Names of the four Headphones
  • Network settings
  • Apps settings (eg: for HPEQ, PRIR Sound Rooms etc.)
Stephen may add some of these in a future Firmware and XLS-file update.

And if you want to change just some of the A16 configuration (eg. user presets): do not forget to delete all the other CSV files on the SD card before rebooting the A16, otherwise the A16 will restart configuring all CSV files he finds (eg. all ATMOS listening rooms etc.) - and this will take unnecessary time during a reboot.

This is a really nice feature, but what would make 100x better is if there was an option in the A16 settings to dump your current setup to a CSV. That way you would not have to create it by hand.
