Ok if you say so...I bet they sound overpriced! How's that..

Luckily I told myself I'd never buy a headphone over $400. Maybe the W1000X if I ever get rich.

I'm still a believer that Shure must think they're something special with the prices on their products..

The 840 is pretty cheap and widely loved around here.

Or are you just referring to the new open back models we haven't heard yet?

I like the SRH-840, but $199 retail is way too high. Luckily it seems it's often around $130, so not too bad.
My opinion of Shure dropped when they released their SRH-940 for $250-$300. To me, it sounds like a $150 headphone.
Of course some say it sounds like a $1000 headphone for "only" $300, so that's OK

I wonder how much the SRH-940 would be if they didn't include all the extras? That alone probably brings the price up a little.
I said I'd buy them if they dropped to around $200, but looks like that'll never happen.

Let's say 170$ , as I  believe professionals value more the srh940 than the srh840. I've read at least 2 expert review, explaining that " bass  light" could be an advantage.
And don't forget that the srh940 are better designed, and more comfy than srh840.
I  got my srh940 for 255$, thanks to a coupon at "Earphone Solutions".

Check the for sale forums maybe in the near future...

I do adore my 940 but I need something that functions better as a portable and I'm already feeling like I have too many cans as it is

I tell ya, I really like the look of the 1440.  I find it sleek and dare I say...sexy?

Really??  Those things freak me out.  I would never wear them even if you paid me.  The 1840 is pretty sexy though.  IMHO.

As the saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Though, the 1840 does look nice.

I do like the 1840 more than the 1440. The 1440 looks too bulky to me.

I'm hoping the 1840 is the upgrade I'm looking for.

Same here... I really hope it competes directly with the HD800 quite honestly. Because if it's anything much less, then it simply means that Shure is no longer that great price/performance headphone company I came to like them so much for -- and rather "just barely" competes at the price, if that. In fact I'll un-like them on Facebook in that case... that'll show 'em!

I don't know if it has been posted, but the Hong Kong Shure rep's presentation for the SRH1840 has English slides. I could also translate any part of the presentation if requested, but I don't think I heard anything we don't already know. In some ways I feel the SRH1440 might be the more important headphone, since it's been quiet down there in the sub-$500 price range, although I'll inevitably pony up for the 1840.

I don't know!! Hey I'm bored.

Here's another vid.  This one gives a good indication at how the new headphones look worn.
