Shure SRH1840 and SRH1440 Unveiled!

Actually yes, just not officially from Shure. Jude said the SRH1840 will go for $699. That's not final but I'm pretty confident of his reliability.

DVDRey: Opinion bears no relevance to pricing. Pricing is an objective quantity, and we can make predictions based on evidence and based on known data. We know with good authority that the SRH1840 will most likely have a $699 MSRP in the USA. We also know that every Shure headphone has sold for considerably less than its MSRP in the US. For example the SRH940 MSRP at $375, yet sells at $220 brand new. It's therefore not at all unfounded to believe the SRH1840 could sell for $600 or even $500 brand new. There is of course a small chance that Shure will suddenly start price fixing their headphones, however this is by far the most unlikely outcome.

I'm not saying it will certainly go for so little, and you are free to disagree of course -- however just saying it's "your opinion" doesn't really mean anything at all. If you have reason to believe the SRH1840 will not be available for $500-$600, then please by all means provide your reasoning and/or evidence for such a conclusion. Otherwise an opinion with no foundation in reality is useless.

Edit: Actually comparing to Jude's price comparisons of the SRH940 etc. it seems he was quoting not MSRP but a more loose pricing, so you could be right - we don't know what the actual MSRP will be for the SRH1840 and therefore any predictions based on MSRP vs street price like my ideallistic $500 guess could be quite incorrect.

Like for HD700, when i speak about price, its about the starting price (msrp in usa i believe), not the price some months or years later. Yes, i agree with you, SRH1840 ll be probably at 500$ one day, but it will probably wait a moment to see this, imo.

Well I'm pretty certain that the HD700 MSRP at $999.99 is official, correct me if I'm wrong. The SRH1840 is going to be "expected to be" $700 according to Jude, but that's probably not MSRP based on his comparison proces of the SRH940. Edit #2: Actually I'm not sure what the actual MSRP of the SRH940 is, for comparison sake. Hmm

The big question is, is Sennheiser going to price-fix the HD700 at $1000? It seems so. They've even price-fixed the HD650 to $500 for the moment, it would seem (kind of scary to see a headphone that's been selling for $350 for years suddenly jump to $500 with the announcement of the HD700).

Vonx: Be aware that ad hominem is generally considered much more troll-ish than anything I've ever said on these forums. I'm merely making observations about reviews and (absurdly high) pricing of flagship headphones. I'm posting both in this thread and the HD700 because... believe it or not... these two headphones are in the same category as far as my next headphone purchase is concerned.

Looks like they use the MMCX plug, same one that the IEMs from Shure use.  This means you could theoretically straighten out the memory wire on the IEM cable and ram it in there, and it'd work...lol

Really? I don't think so. USA prices are lower for all sennheiser headphones I have been interested in.

You have some examples ?

For me, there is no doubt, all my sennheiser headphones was much less expensive in France/Germany than in USA.

How much is the HD650 in France/Germany? Usually it hovers around $350 USD here from most authorized retailers, brand new. So that's 274 euros equivalent for an HD650 in the USA.

Actually, the HD650 has a good price in USA, the HD600 at 295£ in UK (357 euros) is not the best. (250-260€ in France actually)

My second pair of HD650 has been bought 255 euros and HD600 was at 199 euros. Its never the same price of course, but generally, you can have sennheiser for much less than in USA.

My T1 (before i sell it) was bought at 750 euros, my HD800 has been bought at 969 euros.
