Shure SE846 Impressions Thread

I saw your post and got curious. So I ordered a pair (M). Holy smoke, these are great. I prefer them over the CP800-M that I bought recently but didn't like them at all.

Thus, I have 2 pairs of CP800-M; one is unused, one was used for about 10 minutes. If anyone of you wants them, cover $5 shipping and I'll send them to you. PM me.
Glad I could help out a fellow headfier. But it was @msp that started something good by mentioning the CP240's in his post. It's amazing how a good seal can affect the sound.

After a day with these, I am still very happy. Vocal and high are now just about perfect for my ears and preference. There's a little mid bass loss though, which I guess, could be the result of the gain in mid-high. IMO, these tips are actually reshaping the 846 into a more balanced signature. Highly recommended!

i know this isn't really worthy as a post but.... i just retried the large shure black foam tips (3 dots), and the sound quality is really very good, i feel like its creating a really good seal, at long long last, because they're so big, they're filling out my ear !

Thanks for the update.

I also have the CP800 but I think the 240 are better. Spinfit will ship them to you, you don’t even have to pay shipping cost.

Can you share the link to where you bought them - as the shop/site I find says it closed for redevelopment?

Ok, just a cautionary experience. I connected these to a headphone output of a device just now. It sounded pretty bad; huge bass and weak highs. So I figured it was an impedance mismatch. Anyways, it wasn't working. Fortunately, they actually listed the impedance in the manual (for once ), 120 ohms!! geesh, no wonder :D.

Hi all,

I want to buy a new phone.
Which phone is the best with SE846???
The LG V30 is probably the only phone that will do justice to the SE846’s. As it has a quad DAC with MQA decoding for better sound quality. But I would that my SE846’s to a store and try them out on different phones to see if you like the sound out of any phone. You may decide that an external amp will be better.
