Ordered from Mouser. Did you try Grey / White?

Who's running balanced? Cable used? copper/silver preference? I'm 95% rock with a little pop/dance etc in between. Zero classical/orchestra etc etc!

I only went down as low as the Browns, and I like the Reds better so I don't see the point of going lower than the Browns

I am a metalhead, but once I discovered how awesome hi res classical and jazz sounds, I began adding it to my library. Chick Corea, Miles Davis, Chris Botti, Solar Wind, Hilary Hahn, Andrew Agee, David Sanborn, etc...

I upgraded from the SE425 to the SE846 this week and have a few observations.

The SE846 are a bit larger than the SE425. This causes the SE846 to put pressure on or around where the SE425 would rest unoticed. The 425 I used very comfortably with the stock triple flange tips. This is not the case with the SE846. I feel pressure at times around the opening of my ear canal. That, or the tips are in way to far. The SE846 make me reappreciate music I have listened to 100’s of times because this clarity and separation of instruments is new to me.

Yes comfort isn't the best with the SE846, I find the Spinfit TwinBlade TM to be the best comfort vs sound option, closely followed by the Shure Olives.

Unfortunately, they can't be delivered to my country... And it's hard to find those Spinfits with 3mm adapters for Shure.

Really not needed, as I said before take an old pair of foam tips, Comply or whatever, that fit the Shure (I used an old worn out pair of Shure olive's). Remove the old foam from the silicon inner tube, just peel it off. Insert tube adapter into spinfit, job done. I've been using mine like this for a few weeks now, with no ill effects whatsoever.

I can post a picture later if you like.

Hey guys i really need your help.. i'd really love to buy the x7ii, but..
the x7ii having an output impedence of 1.2 ohms at a load of 32 ohms, will it really affect se846's sound?

I measured the X7ii against the X7 and QP1R and the frequency shift from the output impedance was negligible. The X7ii also has a decently quiet noise floor with the SE846, even with its balanced output (not silent, but very quiet). It's a great DAP. I think you'll love it :)

For what it's worth, I was considering it also but ended up going for the ibasso dx200. Couldn't be happier with it and even use it as source/dac for my office rig.

I found the X7ii to have a little better extension at both ends and a more ergonomic, easier-to-use hardware volume control. Things may have changed now, but when I had the DX200, there was no Google services support, which meant even if you sided-loaded apps like Google music (which you had to do, because there was no Google Play store either), it wouldn't work. At the time, the only way to add those features (and not lose gapless playback) was to pay for one of WindowsX's purist ROM mods. And in my experience, those third-party ROMs weren't entirely bug-free. YMMV...

Pretty sure all of that is sorted now with recent firmware updates!

Just thought I'd mention it as an alternative. :)

Anyway...

Ordered an amp3 for mine as I'll be using it balanced only. Put an order in to forza to make up a balanced iem cable and also line out to neutrik.

Plus gave snugs a sale so off to the audiologist when I return from work.

Early Xmas present to me. :D
