Shure SE535: Reviews and First Impressions Thread

Thanks all.  It was indeed the cable and I was able to return them.  Unfortunately the experience has left a slight bad taste as this is the 5th IEM that's failed on me.  Now that my work commute is down to 10 minutes,  I am thinking of either getting a less expensive IEM and funneling any $diff from the SE535s into my new home rig that I am setting up. or just biting the bullet and use the M50 as a not so portable portable.

I just picked up a Sony XA5400ES / Cayin HA-1A , paired it up with MIT Shotgun cables / Shunyata Hydra and and the ATH M50s just sound amazing with these.  I am hooked again.
I will try to see what the HD800s, PS1000s, or (pick your flagship) would sound with these.  Happy days

From 42" (which is not the norm) to the SE535's 64" (or 60", can't remember exactly now) cable, there's a massive 18" -22" difference. Although I prefer a 64" cable, I think the standard should be 50", and most definitely not 42".

Sometimes, in the warm weather, I'll sit outside in my chair with my DAP/amp combo on the floor (protected by a magazine), listening to music and reading my Stereophile or Head-Fi.
I am 5'11" and in that case, with the cable running down behind my ears and back, a 50" cable is too short. Everyone is different.
It's better to (as stated before) make one or two rolls around my source, then to run out of cable, for me, at least. You can always fix "too long" but can't fix "too short", she said (bada boom)

I found an authorized dealer that is willing to sell a pair new for $400. That seems about the best I can get... If I don't like them (Gasp...I know), should I be able to resell them at that price?

hey all

so i just picked up a pair of these and the CBL-M+-K iPhone adaptor. great little combo. however, one thing that is really bugging me - the CBL-M+-K doesn't have a cinch - you know, the little nodule that goes up and locks the loose part of the cable. has anyone had any experience with this?

one other thing. i had heard of a sound quality difference using the CBL-M+-K (see:  http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/535296/question-for-shure-535-owners-about-the-microphone-remote-cable ). anyone else hear this?

cheers

Thread subscribed. Thanks for the impression. Hopefully someone with the SE530 can give some comparison soon. It'll be interesting to see how the improved Shure compete with the current crop of top tier universal iems.

This is what I'm looking for, Thanks for your analysis! It's very detailed.

just got my se535 on the cheap from hong kong. previous iem was the se530 until the cables started to go faulty. like most people said, tremble is better and soundstage slightly wider compared to the se530. 530 sounded warmer. and i do notice the improvement of sound is better after some burning in. contary to some people who have problem removing the tips, mine can be removed without any problem.

UM, Fischer, or 1964 Ears could reshell them in to customs.
