How can I make detachable cable like this? with this hill with xlr ?
The 'mount' (or hill) was made using a 3D printer.
MrTechyBoi is a smart fella.

He will gonna kill me when he discover ...
I plan to mod ET1000 to detachable cable mod (I ordered 6 pin mini xlr) {I wanted to do so on some stax headphones too}

I done this mod on DT 880 edition and find its as perfect ... so I dig an hole on another side to make a mod that accept the Left sided + Dual sided mod for detachable cable =D
(At this moment I having only the hole on the right side =D )

IR8dDnf.jpg

WbXUihQ.jpg

*I included on the photos the AKG K141/600ohm, DT100 /400ohm and unfinished DT770pro/250omh (the premium uses used DT990pro driver cause I accidenlty kill one of my 250ohm)

I put on Et1000 the headband from Dt770pro, Its much better (on Dt100 too).
In addition I though to put on Et100 the Dt48 bases with the pads, or replace the pads on the bases to Dt770 pad.

Why on the past years all the headphones had so tiny hole with on ear pads (but from leather) ?

The idea for detachable cable starts from this headphones:
I saw this headphone on the internet, the Sony ecr (400/500/800)
this is an electret headphones with one sided cable.
so I though that will be grate idea to use this idea on electrostatic headphones (in addition require to add 230v cable over the headband =D)
I still not having any sony headphones.
e059c943-jpg.13352

I though to do this mod like on Dt880edition for left sided cable on T1 and Et1000 headphones.
the space for the mount on et1000 not enoth for mini xlr mount,
I though even disconnect the driver of et1000 and put it inside T1 headphnes (I mean to use et1000 drivers inside T1 cans)... But for now I decided that its too complicated, and lame

for now on Et1000 I leave as is, maybe replace to some other pads .

I also made 4pin mini-xlr adaptet for Dt100, cause I don't want to create specific stereo/xlr cables for only one headphones

sx3x3eN.jpg

so Diy cables is not a big deal (obviously )... but the mount connector is...

So old school beyerdynamic problematic for detachable cable, Electrostatic too, and AKG K141 the vintage one,,, too

Just tall me why they replaced the left sided cable on like DT880

to dual sided (like on old vintage) on T1

Cool stuff, though I do admittedly fail to see the point of a removable cable on an electrostatic. What does that extra functionality do for you, other than make them easier to store?
easy to store.
It's won't twist,
you having only the headphones.

I prefer to short all the cables to 1.8m long.
I even using silver plated cable sometime.
I put a sleeves on the cables.
I think that the cable not have to take a part of the headphones.

I find less satisfaction from stock headphones.
changeable cables also offer me to use XLR or STR cable as I wish (with any long, quality, size and connector)

I also not like the dual sided cable, put still want to start make some dual sided contention cables (like HD650 one)

The 2002 is Electret.
I don't recommend messing with the ET1000, it's quite historically significant and honestly you won't get that far with successfully modifying it without changes to the structure. It's possible but the Headphone is too rare to justify messing with. IMO.

Ok! I will take your advice and not try to change nothing on Et1000,
Et1000 actually having much more flexible cable then the T1 gen1
But I Still thinking about to: short it cable to 1.8m as I done on other headphones and solder on it the stax connector (6 pins) and for n1000 make another adapter for it.

I want to be honest,
I screwed up very good headphones on the last month, actually from just cleaning it, that ends with unwanted disassembly and blow of the membrane.
this is Stax Lambda Normal
Vjh5Xpv.jpg

I will make a mods on it to fix it but its not will be the same.

I must to say that I must to get a normal stax amp, with the SRM-7/SB that works without external voltage, the sound is horrible on the Stax Lambda.
and I not had the luck to test it on the normal amp :frowning2:

My only Electret headphones is: Stax SR30, that on this point I found it more quality then the Lambda /Normal
but my only equipment is the SRM-7/SB and SRM-4
so all done wrong
63z2SIJ.jpg

For my n1000 I replaced the fuse and make another calbes for the speaker amp (plan to make another pair)
jvvZ8zC.jpg

nEO5C4Y.jpg

It using my original case with lots of modding, the case belongs to DT880 premium, but it find better usage for et1000
*this why I told that the cables is messy things
the three adapters, messy things, too (n1000, srm-4, srm-7/sb), I prefer to replace them with some Stax amplifier that will run them all.

Mister Nofarewell(cf p.122 post #1822 of this thread), thinking about your Sony lightweight walkman headphones, and especially the powerfull mdr-62 (sony mdr62) that I took hold onto a broken piece, I transplanted the whole cups and drivers quite successfully in an outshining real vintage and originally bad sounding EuRopSonic (ERS) AH-601 that somewhat make me think about the french luxurious Aëdle Vk-1 (same aluminium cups and brown color scheme as the VK1 classic edition). See following picts please...

I took the earpads holder plates from cheap 10$ cans lying around.
P_20181209_202455.jpg
P_20181210_111344.jpg
The entire cup plus foam perfectly fit inside. Hot glue gun to stabilize the inside plate.
P_20181209_202227.jpg

This can sounds terrific and very isolating, offering very powerfull bass with loudness or megabass turned on without saturation.
Amazingly efficient. Though maybe too high clamping force. New earpads would help, but I have experienced worsening SQ if the driver does not stay real close to the ear.
Needs mini jack plug to be enjoyed for portable devices. Sure. Thanks.

Are you going to make any more youtube videos on your channel?

Also, on one of your social media, you say you have made some new headphones with your Kaldas company . will you be sharing info on head-fi or have a thread like Dan with Mr. Speakers did or Zach with ZMF?

Those Et1000 do look very cool, wish i could hear one. :D

Hey, nice idea, thanks for sharing! Although I think that driver is best fit with an open design cup. I love the 62 :)

You're welcome. Actually there are 6 small holes in the aluminium cups, making the headphones half open back. Regards.
