Ah, great question. It was the best grind I could get at the coffee shop. They didn't offer anything finer. If I wanted the proper Turkish ground, I'd have to buy on-line. That's probably the weak link in my chain and hence, that last 5%!
I am without a solid state (for the first time in awhile). I think the hole in my rack is bugging me more than the absence of a solid state amp however.
@shwnwllms I know what you are feeling, I have the same after my Pro iCan got busted and now I'm without hybrid amp for IEMs....
I'd give you double like for the tubes you've got in your amp but I could press "like" button only once unfortunately. Those tubes will definitively somehow make up for you lack of solid state amp - at least for a while

It’s not even the lack of a SS. Everything sounds better on the Agartha anyway. It’s more my OCD and lack of motivation to rearrange the rack for optimal space and airflow. (Getting the Holo May out and back in is a tight squeeze and I’d rather not deal with it)
SMSL D6s hooked up to the Soncoz SGA1 now. A well-performing DAC with balaned outputs, crystal clear- down to the sharp edges of music- and... composed. A decent stage. No matter how I rolled the op amps in the Geshelli J2S I couldn't remove the smoothness. And a smooth DAC with a smooth amp is round-town. The Geshelli will go elsewhere. Lookin' at Lake People stuff to pair with it.
Between the silver plated power cords and the silver (5N) interconnects, Lavricables Grand, the system sound has immediacy - not in the sense of accelerated pace but in thereness.

Here's the sad story that informed my purchase: I don't like to own more than one example of any DAC chip. That rules out ESS9038q2m and AKM4493. I was considering a ESS9038pro, but I didn't want to spend that much.
Then this DAC appeared with the new 9039q2m.
Oh. The E50 has a 9068AS DAC. I don't have one of those either. Missed that.
