When Grado RS1x is connected via XLR to Monoprice Cavalli Liquid Platinum, fitted with Telefunken ‘red tip / medical grade’ ECC82 s, 92B7401B-324D-4F6F-A566-BF7C095B6898.jpegthis track title & music sum it up nicely 😀:7BCF71A0-F58F-4F61-9F8F-645323FFC088.jpeg
You can use Grados with the LP? From what I remember, folks were pretty much saying the gain was too high for most low z phones (that was ages ago, so I could be remembering wrong)

That was my experience, but Jonathan seems to have the magic touch.
Or maybe he listens much louder than I do.

I think that the LP volume function was adjusted slightly - more of the volume rotation is useable (or I am deafer). Also, I am using 20 mu ECC82 s versus 32 mu 6922 s etc; that gives a little more ‘headroom’.

I've been trying to find that 12-inch single since my copy was stolen some years ago. Lucky you :)

Oh the memories
This one is an anomaly. There are (and I own quite a few) 12-inch 45 r.p.m. singles from the golden era (diamond globe?) of disco. On my Yamaha YPF-1000 turntable with a Supex SD-900 moving-coil cartridge plus Cotter step-up transformer [all currently boxed …], these 45s sounded titanic via headphones or loudspeakers.

Thanks for the info but I was more interested in the disc as opposed to what it's played on

Anyway, I'm aware there are some 12-inch singles that are 45-rpm as I still have a few. I was heavily into disco in the 70's and bought plenty of it

It's just funny seeing that Mcfadden and Whitehead Ain't No Stopping Us Now single you posted as that's one I was looking for recently.
