Shanling M1S replacing the Q1, coming in December, waiting on price
It basically looks like the M5S and the Q1 had a baby giving berth to the M1S. All the features of the M5S with updated hardware but the same size as the Q1. I am guessing or really hoping it will be in the $200 US range given the improvements. Shanling was true to their word and they did not abandon the MTouch DAP's and looks to be making some nice upgrades though the screen size looks weird and having buttons on the front not a great look. But performance is the most important thing so looking forward to more info to come.
I have enjoyed this little Q1.
I am getting noisy clicking sounds between dsd tracks when feeding it through the Mojo 2. It’s not terribly loud, but irritating enough for me try avoid some of my favourite DSD albums.
I wondered if it may be a glitch in the Q1, but not sure. I don’t get this when I just used my iPhone.. but that may well be downsampling to PCM (the mojo light was uncoloured whether playing DSD or various PCM sampling rates)
I hoped it might be something that could be fixed in a firmware update.
Toggling hapless and DSD output settings didn’t help.

The Q1 has been discontinued so I wouldn't hold my breath for a response. Shanling is focusing on the M1S and M0 Pro which are the two new MTouch DAP's coming out supposedly at the end of this month along with all their recently released android DAP's. Might be a good time to sell it and get something else.

Thanks for the quick response. I am getting this noise between every DSD/DSF track I play, every time — 64, 128 and 256 DSD. So it’s a consistent issue. The noise is limited to the transition from one track to another — whether I have ‘gapless’ on or off.
As it’s discontinued, I don’t imagine any firmware update would be forthcoming, but I’d be most grateful to get a fix for this
It is not a matter of impedance only, one has to factor in the sensitivity of the attached transducer. In fact, sometimes a very low sensitivity may be more problematic to drive than a high impedance load.
I tested the Q1 with my 600-ohm Beyers and it can drive them to medium-high volumes but that is with loud modern rock recordings. If you like to listen to music really loud or listen to more quiet recordings, like classical, jazz or well-mastered stuff not affected by loudness wars with high dynamic range, the Q1 would have problems satisfying those requirements with the 600-ohm DT880 or DT990. I would say it is good for up-to stuff like the HD650 (300 ohm). Planars are a different story though, those often have low both impedance and sensitivity, so the Q1 might have serious trouble with those, but I cannot test that, don't own any planars.
I found a workaround recently: connecting the Momentum 3 to the Q1 and any other device at the same using bluetooth. Then it works. I can have the Momentums connected to my iPhone and the Q1 at the same time, only play music on the Q1, have the iPhone in silent mode and it works. When I disconnect the Momentum from the iPhone, the current track is able to finish playing OK but the next track is just silence again. The Momentums need to be connected to 2 devices at once all the time to play music from the Q1. The 2nd device does not have to be the iPhone, it works with an audio bluetooth USB dongle as well.
