Maybe a Theme tool like they did with some of their other devices awhile ago (https://www.head-fi.org/threads/shanling-daps-user-theme.866314/post-13881134)

That would be great but I know the theme tool allowed you to change fonts. Since they don't seem able or willing to change the apostrophe glyph I can't imagine that will happen. I would however like to be able to at least change the size of the display font if not the font itself. To me the font is to big on the display, and it scrolls so slowly you don't get to see the full track name for tracks with longer names before it switches to the album art screen. If Shanling made the font even just a little smaller this would improve this.

Also that theme tool was from back when they were using the Hiby OS if I recall correctly. I don't think they have offered it since they switched to their own MTouch OS.

fixed all of the apostrophes on my tracks and it didn't take nearly as long as I thought it would. MediaMonkey did the trick and sorting all tracks by year and changing apostrophe's on all tracks released from 2014 to now took only a few hours over a couple of days. As an added bonus with the spaces no longer there I see more of the track names now when scrolling.

Does anyone else find that their battery is often empty despite not using it? I think mine turns on accidentally after use or something, because about half the time when I don't use it for a day or two, the battery is completely drained. This doesnt happen with other DAPs.

I wish there was a feature to automatically put it in sleep mode if not connected to headphones or BT?

This has not been experience, I typically leave it on during the day and shut it down at night. It boots so fast not a big deal to shut it down. During the day the battery may drain 2 or 3% when in sleep mode over a 12 hour day on average. I do turn off bluetooth when I am not using it so that could be the culprit. If you aren't going to use it for an extended period why not just turn off bluetooth or better still shut it off. I

I suspect it has something to do with the play button being really easy to press? I sometimes lock the buttons, but that obviously has its disadvantages too.

Nope, I don't get this issue, I've had my Shanling Q1 for a year already, I get about 20+ hours battery life on it and just need to charge it once a week.

You can set this up in Idle settings. There is the Auto-standby or shutdown option.

Hello!

I was thinking of using this device as a digital transport with a self-powered device (FiiO BTR5). I wonder if there are any differences in sound/audio related performance compared to a smartphone in this use case. The thing is, I have found out that active background processes (running apps and system services) on my phone have an impact (subjectively negative, i e. "darker" sound, lesser perceived channel separation) on sound when I'm using it as a transport with BTR5 in both wired (via UAPP, Neutron MP) and wireless modes, even with 16/44,1 files without any additional resampling and/or DSP. Same goes for my PC. This leads me to believe that processing power available actually matters in handling of audio files/digital signal. With this point in mind, I'm concerned about M3 Pro's apparent hardware limitations.
I need a dedicated mobile digital transport device, but my budget is very limited, so the only viable options for me are budget low-performance DAPs like this one or the Fiio M3 Pro, or a budget smartphone like, say, Redmi Note 8 Pro. I'd like to go with the latter to be sure, but in my current financial situation I'll have to save up for it for a few months at least.

Sadly, this issue seems to be pretty obscure to say the least, and it's very hard to find any information on this topic.

If you are looking for a purely digital transport, then the XDuoo X10T might fill that niche. Here's a review for you to check out.

On Q1 we are running custom Music software, so it doesn't have issues of Android with background running apps or forced resampling.

Hi Shanling, do you have a guide on how the DLNA works? I read somewhere the DLNA is not a server and not a client but a Renderer. How do I set it up and what are the functions? thanks.

EDIT: I found the solution. Now using mConnect in iOS to stream Tidal Masters to Shanling Q1 :)

May I know if Shanling Q1 supports AirPlay 2?

Shanling Q1 V2.1 Firmware Update

Adding SyncLink compatibility with iOS

Firmware Notes and download link: https://en.shanling.com/article-q1v21.html

(Update for other MTouch players will follow)

So we waited 11 months for this update!

Once again you're very vague about the details in the firmware notes. What issues are you referring to in the "some flac and WMA files"? What are the bug fixes?

If I am not interested in SyncLink is this still a worthwhile update? As an owner I would really like to know which bugs you fixed so I know what to look for to see if they are actually fixed, especially the flac issues as I have over 10300 flac files on my player.

More info would be appreciated.

The sync link on iOS is a welcome addition. Now I can use Q1 purely as a USB transport to the DAC. It’s also much faster than the android version. But I need to restart my iPhone and Q1 to be able to connect to each other.

@Shanling

Replacement silicone cases for the Q1?

I know there are no after market cases for the Q1 but what about getting another silicone case? I can't see it listed for sale anywhere and should something happen to mine I would like to know if I can buy another one. I ask because my friend's dog chewed up his silicone case for the Fiio M9 I sold him and he can't find one. It got me thinking, several people I know have dogs and I could see my silicone case becoming an attractive chew toy. I would love to have one or two backups on hand just in case.

The "SHANLING Official Store" on aliexpress sells silicon cases for the shanling Q1.
