Thanks for the reply @Shanling. I've sent a message to the Twitter account hoping for a response to see what my options are.You can find such hardware issues on any device on the market. Just buy from a reliable shop that offers a proper warranty and there is nothing to fear.
After factory reset it seems it would have to be a hardware issue, either on inner alignment or the button itself.

Do m9+ has a problem about second screen not working properly as same as m9?

I am not sure what exactly you mean by "second screen". In case you refer to the small display / the notch: I owned the M9 and it always worked flawlessly. I do own the M9+ and it always works flawlessly. Hence my personal (limited) data points are contradictive to your statement.
In case you refer to something else: my sincere apologies - can you kindly expalin?

yes I mean small display / the notch. Some M9 user in "Shanling M9 Announced - Flagship High-End Portable Player" threads report that and also one of my friend(M9) after 6 months small display not working anymore.
Their are hardware parts and as such, some of them might show issue. It's same for all displays.Do m9+ has a problem about second screen not working properly as same as m9?

Received my M9+ a few days ago. Does anyone know the procedure for updating the firmware via Mac since OTA is unavailable?

OTA firmware update is available. Give it a try. Be advised it is slow (can take 45 minutes or more to finish) so make sure your battery is charged up or your M9+ is plugged in.

@Shanling , how much is burning in time for m9+ , is 40hours already a decent time ? as I feel something as for bass frq,s is not on m8 level
rest of frqs , fine resolution sound position and info layering are already north of m8 ..so wondering if it might be burning in that's lacking ..or just different sound signature

After a debate between hiby r6p2 and m9p, I am about to purchase the m9p, should i even consider the m17?M17, especially in DC mode hits the bass harder, but I am also perfectly fine for the music I listen to. Mids are slightly fuller with M9+. But M9+ is half the weight of M17, so it delivers surprisingly well for its physical specs.
i am after something portable enough to use at the sofa / around the house / office / dog walks, and if its good enough ill gladly use it instead of a desktop stack.
i wonder if the m17 is sounding better than the m9p considering the m17 is a lot cheaper but it looks like its not so portable friendly.
edit: i forgot to mention i have read some issues people raised and it kind of worries me and wonder if i should procceed with purchase or look for another option.

Manual update doesn't care which system you use. Just copy the file to internal memory or MicroSd card and rest is done on the M9 itself.
OTA update is available also if you want to try it.

We do not make any official statement on burn-in time. All units are already run for quite some time in our factory ahead of shipping.

Hello @Shanling ,If possible, please contact your seller and send them your unit for testing.
I'd like to ask for your point of view, please. As per your advice, I returned the M9+ to the dealer I had purchased it from (the official Shanling distributor for Shanling in Germany, to my understanding). They received it 2024-01-04, so 6 weeks ago. In an email, yesterday they informed me, that, due to Chinese New Year, the new battery they needed to replace the defective one with, was not even shipped out by Shanling (China) yet. And they expect this shipment not to happen before 2024-02-21, once CNY will come to an end.
For now, this is by far the worst experience I ever had in the realm of personal audio gear. An assumed 9-12 weeks, end to end, to fix a (TOTL) product that was delivered with a defective component? Just check the Cayin N30LE thread in order to see, how things can be handled alternatively and pleasingly for customers.
Let me be clear, this is not a complaint to you (Shanling) only. Instead I'm disappointed by the joint handling of you and your local dealer. I fail to see customer obsession here.
Feel free to reach out in PM if you want to discuss or are in need of all the facts.

Thank you for sharing this feedback.
How the warranty is processed depends on the given distributor. Some of them exchange units directly, others have in-house repair team, some send it to our offices for repair. Our management sets some core rules for warranty and it's then up to distributors to run warranty according to local customs and laws.
Our team is aware of the warranty support of other brands. But our options are limited by our warranty policies set by our management.
In this particular case, it was unfortunate timing of the new order of German distributor in such close timeframe to the holidays and it caused this extra delay.
Have any question about our players? Just PM me or send me email.

Hello, looking for some advice and have some questions regarding the M9 plus. I’m looking to upgrade from my AK SP2000t and the M9 seems like it is a good fit as it is a flagship that is also fairly portable. I always felt I was missing something from my Sp2000t. I like to take my audio players on walks with my IEMs. My current IEMs are Anni 23 (will it have enough power to drive these), Traillii, and Jewel. Would this be a good upgrade for me? Also, does this player have the ability to download the Apple Music app and download content (lossless) to it for offline play just like the AK does? This is a requirement as all of my tracks are on Apple Music and Tidal and need to be able to play them without an internet connection. Thank you.
