MQA was released with a firmware update for M5s a long time after it's launch. FIIO released firmware updates with MQA support on most of it's DAPs while being on market for a long time before that.

Yes, it can be done. Is it easy or clear decision to do so? Not so much.

Is Tidal work on this player correctly without MQA?

Yes, Tidal works fine. Only difference is that files available as MQA are unfolded by the app and played as normal Hi-Res audio.

It is arguably better than SBC but sad no aac support

But ath r70 have 1000mw max power vs 3000mw in fostex 60 and ath have a little higher sensitivity

Three quick questions, if anyone has time:
1) Does the line out bypass the internal amp?
2) Can I use the dap as a usb-dac from a computer and at the same time use the line out to an external amp?
3) and this is crazy, but I'm curious, can I use the dap as a usb-dac from an android phone and at the same time use the line out to an external amp?

1) There is no dedicate line-out circuit, so it always goes through amplifier circuit.
2) You can use it as USB DAC and feed it to amplifier, with M6 acting as pre-amplifier. You can set volume to 100% if you wish to use separate pre-amplifier.
3) It can work as USB-DAC with Android, if your phone supports such function.

On M6 you have digital out through USB port, to be used with USB DACs.
There is line out setting in menu, but that's just software setting that lock volume at max.

And what would the likely process for upgrading be, we will need to use software to flash the drive? I have a Hiby R6 which i tried uograding to 9.1 and it was not successful, so I am curious about the forecast for the Shanling M6 here. Thanks.

We would like to offer update to Android 8 or 9, but so far not certain when or if it will be possible.

@Shanling Got an interesting question about the M6 why does the volume get louder with the EQ off and quieter when the EQ is on?
