Shanling M6 Player - New version with ESS DACs coming soon
Sep 17, 2020 at 12:12 PM Post #977 of 1,455
hi M6 fans... I have experienced a few times the player going dead, what I mean is no sound, no screen, but the led by the volume wheel is on, RED. I had to use the recovery mode every time, it has happened while playing as DAC and also when turning it ON, the led goes on, but the logo never shows....

I wonder if others have had this problem, or if the Shanling team is planning a fix.

otherwise, very happy for the past few mobths....

I don't see anything in the article about installing the play store.

Replied to your PM.

Please which firmware version are you running? This can be sometimes caused by glitch in charging setting, our software team released few fixes in past firmware updates, that should be greatly reducing this.

my M6 is running 3.22.

another weird event happened in the last 24 hrs:

the player turns off on its own, some times the message "Android Turning Off" appears, other times it just go silence and OFF. This happens randomly, 5 minutes. 20 min, 30 mins into listening.

any advice, is my unit defective?

thanks

That is an automatic turn off feature that you can disable somewhere in the Settings.

But it shouldn't turn off when music is playing

The Shanling music app was discussed a page or so ago, and I've begun to notice a problem with mine, to do with the file structure. I had inadvertently, for instance, put an album of Schumann symphonies in my Mendelssohn folder (I know, dontcha hate it when that happens?) I fixed this on the sd card and checked the tagging, but the Shanling still reads the file as still there --- even though it's not. I've updated the library twice, to no avail -- it still seems to think this phantom album is there. Another file, also under Mendelssohn, displays the cover of a different symphony and composer altogether, even though I've checked and the right one is attached to the folder. Even more maddening, I have two albums called "Freedom" by two different artists (Neil Young and Melissa Ferrick) and the Shanling app insists on lumping them together, as it did with any album just called "Live". I should point out that Poweramp does not have this problem, and all the files are in the right place with the right artwork. I've also checked the tagging on Media Monkey, and it's all fine. Why does the Shanling app have this problem?

Correct, I use the timers to let it stand by and then go off to avoid putting stress in the volume wheel, this works after I stop the music at the set time.

but my unit goes OFF even when playing music...

any other advise?

You can go through app system menu and there delete data of the Shanling app. That should help with these "ghost" files.

Regarding the albums with the same name, we are aware of this issue, waiting on some fix from software team.

Hello @Shanling

Is there any way to decrease the volume of the "beep" sound when you press one of the left side buttons?

There is not beep sound in system or in our app. Are you experienicng this with some certain apps?

Sorry, I don't understand -- I go into the Shanling app menu, okay, but then where do I go? I'm looking at the menu right now and can't see anything that would "delete data".

You need to go into Apps menu in system settings. There you can uninstall apps, manage their data, permissions, etc.
