I switch between pairing with speakers and pairing with a car. If I am not patient scanning doesn't connect. It is hard to go thru the menus to select the Bluetooth for the car while driving!

I'm talking about pairing with a car. I've tried several different cars and the song title, album and assist never show up. This is why I'm returning the M5S.

The context of where we are in the folders is reset after going to playback screen. So swiping left from what's playing goes back to home, not to folder the song is in.

If I'm in usb mode it seems to use other drive letters. I think this happened in DAC mode.

To connect with paired device, you don't need to perform scanning again. Just when you get into proximity of turned on device, it will connect automatically. If not, you can try reset Bluetooth, which can be done in drop done menu within seconds.

Our MTouch system is limited in this, it doesn't support BT profiles for sharing info, due to clash with other functions.

I must agree, returning to folder structure is not set ideally.

If you are using it as USB DAC, it shows up as sound card on your computer, no as drive.

Back to The EQ
After hours of playing with the EQ (days of playing with the EQ) I think I have it as close as I'm going to get it. The settings I have dialed in sound great in my car (17 Speaker 500W Lexicon System) and IEMs (Shure SE535 with Knowles White Filter) It gives me nice clean Bass response defined mids and clean highs without the cymbals and tambourines sounding harsh. Now I know that preferences are different for each of us and the IEM and Headphone will change the sound but I thought I would share this because I have fought hard with this eq to get rid of Bass decay and this seems to have worked across the the largest variety of music from Jazz Funk metal, ska and rock:

31Hz -.5
62Hz +2.75
125Hz +2.75
250Hz +1.5
500Hz 0
1kHz -1.0
2kHz +1.5
4kHz +1.5
8kHz +2
16kHz +3

It's not perfect, but better at least to my ear. We still need and improved EQ but this has helped me find a setting that works across a range of genres and playback devices without having to dial in new settings everytime I playback with something new. I still have a few bass heavy tracks that get muddy and I've set up a custom EQ for them too. Hope this helps someone.

My understanding is that id3 tags need to be provided by the Bluetooth sender for Album, Artist, Title to show up. If the M5S can't do this, or will not support id3 tags anytime soon, I need to return the unit.

pretty sure lifting 62hz more than 2 db will make some tracks to distort

That's for sure and on some albums / tracks I either turn EQ off or use an EQ setting like Pop or Jazz. The numbers I posted work for me most of the time on most of the stuff I listen to.

I made several comments in posts above - and am including them below. I've had to power cycle the M5A every couple of days to clear it out. Sometimes it starts skipping during playback, sometimes it won't connect to Bluetooth, sometimes it has trouble powering off!!

Here's a summary of problems in priority order:
  1. Bluetooth pairing is exceedingly slow and gets stuck.
  2. Bluetooth doesn't support next or previous track, show album's song list, titles, etc.
  3. Replay Gain isn't implemented.
  4. Switching from Balanced to Unbalanced headphones dismounted SD card.
  5. Adjusting Playback requires backing out of Foilders.
  6. Playlists can't be renamed.
  7. Favorites only hold songs, not albums or artists.
  8. UI is laggy and buggy.
  9. OTA Firmware update is very slow
  10. Updating Music LIbrary is slow.
  11. Mounting USB only on D:
is the new update including EQ enhancement?

Can someone please tell me why when i am playing music in ALL SONGS from the top that after about 30 minutes my player keeps shutting down and when it turn it back on it takes a long time for the power button to work. Also when i turn it back on it keeps going back to a song that was not playing and the volume resets to 20(instead of 40-45) It keeps like it is forcing itself to shut down like a hard reset(without the turning back on on its own)

I am on version 2.0 still because of the bugs listed by others with volume etc. and this has been going on for the last week. When I play songs from an albums only it seems to work fine. Anyone else having the same experience?

Isn't it possible that in your All songs playlist M5s is hitting some problematic file that causes crash?

This is the first thing I thought so I I have tried in multiple places out of 3000 songs.
I just ended up updating the firmware to 2.1 and it has been about an hour and is still running.

I am going to leave it running overnight while I burn in some IEMs and I will update tomorrow

Previously, when browsing artist or composer, you would only get a list of albums, now you can dial into the track listing from "artist" Category. And whereas you could only play a song from an album or all songs on an album, you can now select all songs from an artist....
