@PinkyPowers , I was totaly convinced by your M5s review :" Possibly the best bang for your buck headphone in existence is the Meze 99 Classics ($309, Review HERE), with its gorgeous voicing, rich bass, and crystalline clarity. Shanling’s M5s does nothing to hinder the transparency, but really fattens up those mids, increasing warmth and acoustic resonances. Yes, these two pair together so well, I can’t imagine a more satisfying system for under $800..."

So, besides the awesome iSine 10, I just have bought another headphone, the Meze 99 Classics! This Meze 99 Classics just sounds fantastic with Shanling M5s via balanced port! By the way do you apply EQ on the M5s?

Thanks. Glad you found it helpful.

I did not apply any EQ to the Shanling M5s.

I use a Balanced cable I built. But now a days, Meze sells some for very little.

The HD6XX is not a mobile, DAP-friendly headphone. They are best used on a desktop system. And sound-wise, they are almost nothing alike.

Massdrop has it available for $350+ $20 for a case. Is that a good price?

More importantly how does it handle Tidal now, especially MQA quality files? What so of unfold does it do?

Finally, how easy is it to stream music via a home server via WiFi?

I understand this doesn't run a Roon client app -- which means it can't control Roon.

But does Roon see it as an end-point over wifi? So that Roon can play music to the M5s, controlled by a different client (iPad, laptop, whatever)?

Tidal Premium should be added in future firmware updates.

This is our first release of Tidal for our system, there is still work to be done on it.
So are you saying that although Premium MQA files cannot be played now, you are working to incorporate the ability to so a full unfold of MQA files by the M5S in a future firmware release??

At current time Tidal on our system only works with High and Hi-Fi quality. Will check how is it with progress on Master quality.

To stream over Wi-Fi, you need external device acting as DLNA controller, so either your phone or computer. M5s in this setup works as dumb receiver, playing whatever you tell him to.

So are you saying that although Premium MQA files cannot be played now, you are working to incorporate the ability to so a full unfold of MQA files by the M5S in a future firmware release??

Here you are mistaking Premium with Hi-Fi/Master/MQA. Premium is the basic subscription of Tidal, the mp3/lossy tier. It wasn't supported in previous version, making it impossible for Premium members to log-in. That was already fixed in later firmware.

Will ask around if anybody has experience with Roon.

Yes it's a good price I paid 399 ± 20. I like the case but it is so sexy and feels really nice in the hand without it.

@Shanling , seeing that polish translation still looks not consistent, may I offer my help with improving this? I would happily volunteer to translate it properly if you provide me with the files :)
@Shanling, my question still stands :) Also, are the volume wheel issues software related and is there any fix planned for it? My volume skips by 2/3 every 5-10 clicks. I tried downgrading the firmware, it seems that it helped but not completely, the skips were less frequent. I will test that further, but if this is hardware related, then should I send it for warranty repair? or is there any other way to improve the volume wheel precision?

This is a hardware issue ,,,,send back for warranty repair . I wish you strong nerve and patience with .Takes me 2 videos and 6 days chat with the seller , before they accept for warranty .
My unit also shows problems with usb contact. To me , when someone says OUR FLAGSHIP , means flawless , no problem product . It is YOUR flagship , Your Pride , no mistakes allowed here.
Come across complaining about volume issue with M0 also . Seems Shanling has a QC issues .

All our translations are done by our international distributors. You can send me in PM list of things you think are incorrect and I will talk with them about changing it.

There was big adjustment to wheel accuracy in firmware 3.0. If you are experiencing it being better at lower firmware, it's software problem and it seems we can do even more adjustments.

As much as we try, we can never create flawless product. No company can. We will always rely on parts(such as potentiometer and USB connector) from third party manufacturers that can break or have slight variance in their precision.

Can you tell me from which seller you bought your player?

Shanling jest dla mnie smutny. Może to nie takie trudne?

Does anybody have both the Shanling M5s and AK70 Mkii? I wanna hear your thought about their sound performance.
