@kr0mka. Have you tried just scrolling the wheel up and down from 0-100 and then from 100-0? I had the same problem and did that a few times and it solved it for me.

All our translations are done by our international distributors. You can send me in PM list of things you think are incorrect and I will talk with them about changing it.

There was big adjustment to wheel accuracy in firmware 3.0. If you are experiencing it being better at lower firmware, it's software problem and it seems we can do even more adjustments.

Sure, I will compile a list and send it to you during the upcoming week. Regarding the wheel issue, upon further investigation I think this might be a hardware potentiometer issue, as the skipping still happens on earlier firmwares, while it wasn't happening when I first got the device. Also, could you comment on the 0-100 scrolling and back trick? Is it some software callibration? Or did just the connection clear up from that much constant scrolling and that's why it works better now?

i DO LIKE a lot that device M5S - i do believe it is very rare to see company to stand against android madness and try developing and supporting their product ,,,massive respect for that .
However :
1. As much as we try, we can never create flawless product. - if you really believe that ,,,well , leave your job and find to do something else . M5S are product with personality & standing against serious competition Your flagship a MUST be flawless ,,at least volume control issue , usb loss connection are TOTL UNACCEPTABLE .
2. No company can. - my W300 / bought 2006- till today work FLAWLESS ...2019 / no cable issues , no volume issues ......no any issues ....Do not want to mention my WM1 2yrs ,ROCK stable .
3. We will always rely on parts(such as potentiometer and USB connector) from third party manufacturers t - Well chose wisely or do your tests extended , BEFORE asking for PEOPLE money .
4. Shanling , you know very well that there is a problem with volume .you must officially announce it and call back for repairs FAST is possible, Here at the forum or whatever .
5. when contacting a seller for very well known problem , it must be processed immediately , same as the money was taken immediately. Not to wait for .Obviously there is a problem i do need to provide 2 videos proof for that .
6.. FIIO - accept for warranty repair IMMEDIATELY along with receipt for proof .Just example , from experience with. No need to contact seller . Takes me 1 email only .Not like SHANLING , "please contact the seller for warranty repair "
7. I did provide info about the seller 1m ago. I do need to do that again, when policy is. buyers -seller - shanling . Better instruct your dealer to no waste customers time and to proceed straightforward ......
8. Cant wait get my unit back
9. Really dont need to respond , Just ordered ME100LTD ,,,waiting for ME500PLatinum.

There is no 0-100 trick that we are aware of. As you are dealing with analog interface, it's possible that it can help.

If you are in Poland, our Polish distributor has access to replacement parts and you can talk to him about exchanging inner mechanism if you believe it's misbehaving.

Shanling M5s Firmware V3.3

New functions:

1. Added Spectrum analyzer and Analog decibelmeter as optional interface of Now Playing Screen. Go to “System” – “Playing interface” to enable.

2. Added Album Artist browsing. Go to “Artist” and click on artist icon in top menu to enable.

Note: All files must have Album Artist tag filled, otherwise they will be listed under “Unknown artist”.

3. Added animations for USB DAC, charging and Bluetooth receiver mode.

4. Added new UI theme.

Fixes:

1. Fixed problem with AAC Bluetooth, previously causing problems with some TWS earphones.

2. Fixed problem with limited characters in Tidal log in.

3. Other bug fixes

I am using the EQ with my headphones : Audeze iSine 10, Meze 99 Classics , RHA T20 , sennheiser HD598 and the M5s sounds nice. No problem at all with my EQ setting. To be honest, if you don't set "extreme EQ" you will not experience any distortions. But it may depends on the headphones, the EQ may cause distortion. I believe Shanling is working hard to fix this

Is there a way to lower the quality of played files on tidal from within the tidal app in m5s??
Its played as flac always even when i lower tje settings from my tidal account

I dont think its possible anyway since its a hardware thing . It cant just improve the equalizer lowering distortion clipping without lowering the whole volume which is a trick that can be adjusted anyway by the user by lowering all uneeded bands .
And for added DSP effects its never gonna happen. When did the last time you hear about a dap company adding new dsp effects in non android software updates? Its either hardware is capable or not. If m5s hardware was capable of handeling dsp effects or hardware equalizer it would have been pre implemented from the start.

Any other claims of developing improved equalizer or dsp effects are just marketing gimmics .

My advice if you are looking for good equalizer or dsps look elsewere from.this dap .

Not saying its bad dap not at all its perfectly fine for people who want flat eq , warm sound and dont care much about bass

@GoldenTooth Technically I don' t know! Just remmember the old Shanling M3s with FW 1.7: it seems that they has fixed the EQ. You can turn up max 6dB all ten EQ bands without any sound distortion.
Meanwhile you are right. I think we may use "minus EQ" with the M5s

No change for EQ so far.

At current time there is no way how to change Tidal quality, if you have Hi-Fi account, it will automatically go with the lossless quality.

After 45 days of waiting ... I got it my M5S today back , after warranty repair Volume hardware issue /we all know that / ….YAYYYY…AMAZINGGGGGG
Update firmware availabel ......OK...Install the new firmware 3.3…improvements , new theme…bla-bla…..YaYYYYY….amazing
Card ON,,,scanning ......Load music ….playing time 3h ……..problem with volume control….yet here ……Not YAYYYY,,,,NOT AMAZINGGGG
Problem I did reported when send back + video showing how USB port disconnect from itself …..NOT fixed
