Shanling M3X Portable Player - Our smallest Android Player

It shows Unknown USB Device (Descriptor Request Failed), both in USB DAC and USB DISK modes.
Tried reinstalling drivers, restart etc.

Interesting that it shows as a unknown device in both modes, yet you say it still shows up for data transfer. It should be showing up as portable device for the data transfer. When you try it on different machine, does it behave same?

Is there a way to save the setting so that it doesn't change from LO back to PO every time I turn off my M3X?

I currently have my M3X connected to the Topping NX7. It would just be easier if I don't have to remind myself to change to LO every time I turn the DAP back on.

Additionally, do you recommend using LO with high gain or low gain?

I'm not exactly sure what chain you are trying to set up, but I will say that M3X do not have Analog input. So it can not be used as analog signal to BT transmitter.
I was wondering if I could plug a 3.5mm jack into an audio device that doesn't have BT and connect to the M3X and then connect via BT to my FiiO UTWS5.

Can the M3X be used as a BT transmitter like this?

Hello everyone,

How is your battery life compared to the advertised claims?

I've had my M3X a week and only get approximately 10 hours per charge when running balanced/low gain at 25 to 30% volume. I charge to full and just leave it playing on repeat for testing and the drop rate is around 10% per hour. Latest firmware is loaded, Shanling app used, wifi off and screen off for 95% of the time.
Nowhere near the supposed 19 hours which was the main reason for buying.

This is security setting, to prevent accidentally blasting whole power into your headphones.

If you use it only with your amp, just set boot volume to 100 and keep it at it.

For this connection high-gain is better.

M3X do not have analog input, it can not be used for this.

Please are you testing it until the M3X runs to complete zero and turns off? Or just estimating it based on the battery meter?

The battery life can differ a bit based on what exactly you are running. Playing locally stored files or streaming MQA over Wi-Fi are two very different battery loads.

Thank you for the response.

I have been fully charging and then leaving the unit playing constantly until zero and turning off.
When playing local files through the Shanling music app with no wifi, connected balanced/low gain at 25 to 30% volume I am seeing only 10 hours of playtime.

Yesterday I installed GSam Battery Monitor to get a better idea of what is happening so will keep monitoring.

I was wondering what other people's experience was to determine if my unit had issues or not.

Is there anyway to set vol more than 50 when connecting to tws or BT dac?
Need to raise the volume every time i connect to BT is kinda pain, especially when the volume keep jumping down when i drag it to 100

This is a guess, but I am thinking that the balanced mode uses more power than 3.5.

I would recommend to do complete factory reset and then run it just with the Shanling app, normal 16/44 flac. To make sure there isn't some 3rd party app messing it up.

if you still get only 10 hours on balanced, please contact your seller for warranty on this unit.

Please what firmware and app are you using on your M3X? With my TWS I have no issue setting volume above 50, gradually increasing volume until reaching 100.

Yes, M3X always default to 50 volume for Bluetooth devices, there is no way to adjust this.
