Shanling M3s - dual AK4490 DAC, 2.5 balanced out, aptX BT, HiBy link, USB out, FW 1.7

Good morning. The issue occurs whether using ASIO or Wasapi in JRiver and happens after a couple songs have already played; the first couple songs are fine, then it starts happening and is immediately noticeable during quieter passages. After that it permanently remains an issue. The problem isn't limited to JRiver, as it also happens in iTunes. I've played around with the settings in the Shanling Audio control panel, but changing between 16, 24 and 32-bit made no difference. I have ASIO Buffer set to Auto and USB Streaming set to Safe. This won't assist when using my Macbook though, as OS X is a driver-less system and I cannot install the Shanling Audio control panel on the Mac.

Has anyone else's M3s exhibited this issue? I can't be the only one using it as a USB DAC.

This problem(starts after some time, only hearable in quiet passages) was reported by some user on M2s and we found out it has something to do with the connected computer, because it only showed on parts of computers in our office. Unfortunately there was never fix for this issue.

It happens on 3 computers, two with Windows 10 and one with OS X Mojave. It is very unlikely it's the computer (or rather all three of them). It sounds like there is no solution for this...:triportsad:

I think this has already been brought up in the thread, but does anyone know any way to fix the issue of no files showing up under "My Music" but all showing up under "File Browser"? It does this with my 128g SD Card, but not with my 32g. I'd love a fix if it's possible...

I did; it's done this every time I've tried. When it gets to file 1356 it shuts off. After rebooting it and going to "My Music", it says there are no files found at all. But they all show up under File Manager.

If your player crashes during music update, it's likely there is some corrupted file causing this problem. You would need to try to localize it by putting smaller parts of your music library on your card and seeing which causes this problem.

I love this little player. I have an Ibasso DX90 which I've barely picked up since I got it and discovered the pleasures of balanced output to my HD650's. But I managed to bash it one day and a little bit of the screen image has degraded - it still works fine. I asked Shanling about a replacement screen back in September last year - they were very helpful and suggested that the most economical way to get one to me was via the shipping they make to a distribution company in the UK. I readily agreed to this but - and they continue to be very nice and very helpful - the order keeps getting lost and the screen never ships to the UK. I think it's happened about three or four times now. I'm slightly doubting that it will ever happen now to be honest. Does anyone by any chance have a spares and repairs M3s knocking about with a working screen they would sell me?

Thanks Shanling for releasing the M3s, the sound is very enjoyable. Loving it!

Few days ago I dropped in on the street, and now the "back" button has lost its tactile, while still functional - Is there a way to fix?

Thanks!

I'm sorry there were some problems in getting you the screen in last two packages to UK distributor, hopefully third time the charm. Of course as our apology you are getting the screen for free.

Unfortunately, if back button is broken, it means button mechanism on main board is damaged. This could be fixed, but you would need to find somebody who would be quite confident in his soldering skills.

Hi Mr. Shanling, thanks for the reply. Do you have an instruction sheet of how to open it up and DIY repair? Thanks! I assume it'll involve soldering SMD components?

The back button is still functional when pressed, so hopefully something is bent, not broken! :)

Then your M3s could serve nicely as USB transport for your DAC :)

Hi -@Shanling,
Sorry to bring this up again. Could you please clarify?

For M3s to function as USB transport into a standalone DAC, is this how it should be set from the menu?

System settings -> USB Mode == DAC
File Browse -> OTG (DAP asks for "Please Insert OTG)

From here, how do I select the tracks?
I'm pretty much in the dark on this,

Thanks for your help

I think that when you select -
USB Mode == DAC
- that sets the M3s into Receive Mode (to work as a USB DAC), rather than Transmit Mode (to act as a transport).
