Thank you for the reply, one more question, if I may, is there a software slider for the volume?

Since I'm experiencing rather inconsistent shifts in volume if I rotate the volume wheel slowly, sometimes it'll go up by 1 on the 'click' of the wheel, but sometimes it goes down, or doesn't change the volume at all.
You can bring up volume by tapping on the clock in status bar.

@Shanling

Future of your MTouch DAP's.

Looking at you MTouch DAP lineup you have the 3 year old M5S which I believe you said you won't be updating. The 3 year old M0, and 2+ year old M2X. So the only up to date model is the Q1. As a big fan of these DAP's I am wondering what the future holds. Are you still planning on releasing more updated models?

I am very happy with the Q1 but an updated M2X could be a very good option for my future DAP. The only thing that kept me from opting for the M2X is relatively meager 10 hours of battery life. If you aren't going to release another M5S how about an interim model like an "M2X Pro" with a larger battery and maybe update it to the ESS9219C like the M3X. Keep the same basic design and just upgrade a few components and features.

On another note: I understand there is still no Canadian distributor. However headfoneshop in Toronto still has the M5S on their site with the comment "In Stock Soon", and they have been selling it since it's release. Any idea where they might be getting their stock. The price is very good and I am tempted to demo once they get more stock. Without a Canadian distributor how would the warranty coverage work?

No plans for any follow up right now.

You can reach out to this seller regarding warranty. They are not our seller, so can't help with it.

Hi @Shanling , I had a question about the M2x. I noticed that its barely being sold anymore, for example its no longer available on US Amazon. Is this player still being made, or is it being phased out? And if so, will Shanling offer another player of similar size and quality? Or does it already? (I know about the M3 X but as far as I know its significantly bigger.) Thanks.

Yes, it's still being made. But availability in different regions depends on the local distributors.

Is it safe to plug in TRRS connectors(Mic 3.5mm cables) to the 3.5mm jack? Could it cause issues in the player? Or can I use the mic button to control playback too?
No problem with using TRRS cables with mic(if it's not one of the ancient cables, that had switched channels, thanks Sony!). If you have earphones that works fine with modern smartphone, they will work on M2X as well.

There is no support for in-line controls on M2X.

Is there a proper way to grip or turn the volume wheel properly? Since I'm experiencing inconsistent volume changes, sometimes it goes up, and sometimes it goes down, whether I twist the knob slowly or quickly

my m2x is the black-gold edition running firmware 3.1 (currently updating to 3.2-- hopefully it'll fix it)

This is mostly caused by inaccuracy in the potentiometer. It could be in theory cleaned or exchanged for new one if you wish.

Firmware V3.3 for M2X.

https://en.shanling.com/article-M2XM5sFwJuly21.html

Small fix to bug introduced in last firmware update.

If you already installed V3.2, please update to version V3.3.
If you didn't update yet, please update to version V3.3 directly.

Is there a way to downgrade the firmware on the M2X? I'm currently on the latest firmware (3.3), and sometimes I'm experiencing hard lockups (music stops playing and entire player freezes), needs a hard restart to fix things (holding the power button until it's off and turn it on again).

I did a factory reset on every firmware update, and a complete rescan of my music library every firmware update and/or new song being added into my micro SD card (copied using a SD card adapter, not via the M2x USB transfer)

p.s is there a way to transfer the music files directly to the M2x wirelessly? like ShareIT on android?
