Just saw a review for a player called ruizu which looks very similar to the m1. Didn't know they used generic shells and software

Shanling M1 and Ruizu player has nothing in common, apart from them deciding to use similar design and wheel. I recommend looking deeper into specifications and photos, to see there is ahrdly anything similar.

Our players run on HiBy link software, which is used by some other brands too, but not Ruizu.

Will the auDioquest DFR/DFB work as a dac on m2s? Just curious

Didn't try it myself, but I saw few people using Dragonfly with M1 and M2s.

Shanling Have any question about our players? Just PM me or send me email. Stay updated on Shanling at their sponsor profile on Head-Fi.

It'll probably work, but remember that the DF and similar portable DACs don't have their own source of power, and so it'll have to draw power from the DAP, which may severely shorten the battery life depending on how much power it draws.

I use DFR with my m1 and m2s all the time, yes they will shorten play time on a charge but they are amazingly efficient designs. I only notice a few minutes difference when using the DragonFly.

Disabling clock removes the lock screen by the way (so only one press on power button is necessary).

Cheers for this little tip. I wonder if Shanling is even aware of this. I had previously suggested that there should be a way to disable the screen lock, but they never suggested this.

I think someone mentioned it earlier in this thread, actually as annoyance as the clock disappears from the top bar too, I was just curious to check it out and suddenly realised that it's a feature, not a bug! :L3000:
(Even if it's actually a bug lol)

m2s is a clear update on sound department. i used m1 like a week than sold it. it was midbass humped, zero resolution, muddy player.
