Shanling M2s Hi-Res DAP with AK4490 + MUSE8920, Bluetooth, & USB Out

Okay, since there's been quite a bit of discussion surrounding M2s + Mojo, I took it upon myself to generate some objective data tonight.
.
.
.
.
But I digress... The main takeaway is that in this test, there was no measurable difference between Mojo's output when either using M2s or N3 as transport.

I hope that this exercise was helpful and puts this issue to rest. If needed, I can verify that other sources respond similarly but I honestly don't think that necessary given the clear results of the test above.

Thank you very much Nikolaus for doing this! Always good to get independed confirmation

Here's sharing my comparison of the N3 vs M2s when my nephew popped by the house with his M2s. I somehow found that the M2s have a tighter low end, smoother but more detailed high frequencies. I've tried the "short delay sharp" filter on the N3 and the high frequencies of the N3 sounds grainier but low frequencies have a more pronounced character but not as tight as the M2s. I then switched the N3 filter to "slow" and the N3 highs are equivalently smooth but not as detailed as M2s and the N3 low frequencies are still more pronounced but still not as tight as M2s. The soundstage of the N3 is a little wider than the M2s but overall, I prefer the sound of the M2s which is slightly more neutral but the M2s' forward/rewind/pause buttons are just too small for my liking. Due to the limited time testing the M2s, I didn't compare the bluetooth streaming quality. For those who have the opportunity to compare these 2 great budget DAPs, kindly share your honest opinion.

Hi all,
I'm looking to buy a DAP to pair with my chord mojo and I'm debating between the Fiio X1 2nd gen and this (also considering the M1). I don't see a scenario where I would be using the DAP standalone so I'm not too fussed about the sound differences between the two DAPS. I'm more concerned about the GUI and usability of the device. Can owners of the M2s with a chord mojo provide feedback on how usable it is when they're stacked together? I'm afraid the scroll wheel may be hard to use and buttons hard to reach one handed especially with the added thickness of the mojo behind it. My hands aren't very big :frowning2:

There's a 10% off eBay Australia coupon that starts tomorrow so I'm hoping to make a decision soon.

Thanks!

Have you posted a photo of N3 and M2s side-by-side? I'm curious about the size difference.

Hi guys, just trying to start with Headfi. I'm looking for a DAP that has a few features like USB Dac/Amp etc.. I think Shanling M2s is on top of my list (With Fiio X3 2nd Gen) for my budget.

Anyway, anyone here tried the Shanling M2s as Bluetooth receiver from Phone/Laptop source then the M2s connected to a preamp/integrated amp for Stereo?

Phone/Laptop ---> Shanling M2s as Bluetooth Receiver ---> Line to Tube preamp ---> Power amp then Speakers? Is this possible with this small device? Very curious.

Thank you very much!

Yes, you can use it just like this!

Also one secret tip, while streaming from your phone, you can use M1/M2s as USB transport and feed your external DAC :gs1000smile:

Hi guys, I'm getting my mojo tomorrow- thanks to Deftone :) ( and hopefully my cable ) and I'm wondering if I have to change any settings on my beautiful little m2s to use it as a transport.

Thanx.

No settings needed, just plug in cable and it will automaticly recognize DAC and start sending data to it
