I use P1 with m2s, goes loud even on low gain and sounds very good.
So far you are only one reporting such issue, hopefully you will figure out what is causing it and we will be here to give you any help you need with it.
I just got my brother to help me to do a blind test to be absolutely certain im hearing things just as i think i am.
The "review M2s" (no EQ) definitely adds bass bloom in the sub and mids and the highs are slightly softer. The Pc running jriver with ASIO bitperfect output has much tighter deeper controlled bass identical to my smartphone running usb audio player pro in bitperfect mode.
Now, ive heard people mention different sources can cause subtle changes to the sound but this is quite a big change and it leads me to believe that there is some sort of DSP (even if its not intentional by shanling) thats spicing up the output.
So now i have to decide weather or not to buy my own M2s and hope its the review unit or look elsewhere. even though i fell in love with the little M2s i dont want to order knowing usb out might not sound as pure as it could be. The only way id know is testing multiple M2s units but i cant do that.
The USB out and the EQ are the only taking away from an otherwise very well made sexy little player.

Has anyone else tried multiple sources with mojo to see if their m2s exhibits what deftone is hearing? Deft, hopefully it's the review unit or something simple. I'd like to know myself because I'm getting a mojo just to pair with m2s, and of course I want a clear uncoloured signal to go to the mojo.
And I also love the little m2s, plus I hope the eq gets fixed, and I hope that it's not just you and me that have the problem- but when my eq is engaged it muddies the signal. I bring this up again because besides Deftone I haven't heard anyone else complain about the eq.

Im hoping other M2s + Mojo users can compare with a android phone running UAAP or similar. Any feedback regarding this is highly welcome.
M2s is the best best pairing i have found in terms of almost perfect size matching, snappy UI, good controls and a nice sharp display. It would be a shame for there not to be solution and then this can be the end of my rambling on.

I'm going to attach a USB DAC such a PCM2706 to M2s and PC, play reference flac and compare outputs through the SPDIF digitally using logic analyzer board. I hope that shanling do not lie about bit-perfect usb output...

yes, tempted to buy the bundle with case and tempered glass screen protector from Shenzen Audio. But maybe jaben will have nice pre-order specials...?
yeah, I was waiting for Jaben's pre-order specials too, been constantly checking their page for the last month but nothing. got fed up and just ordered at ShenzhenAudio.
