The bluetooth issues I experienced with the release firmware were totally cleared up with the recent 1.10 update. I've had no connection troubles whatsoever.

Sorry I didn't spot that. The cable that comes with the M1 is not OTG, so did you need to order a new USB C OTG cable as well?

I did order a 4" OTG cable for thr M1, do hope it works well.

It really depends on your application I feel. For myself who owns a dac/amp with a volume pot displaying slight imbalance at the lowest volumes I don't mind losing a few bits when listening late at night in bed to compensate the volume level.
 
We can't be purists 100% of the time...

Late at night in bed is when you'll notice it the most - very little background noise.
