Shanling M0 - Smallest Hi-Res Portable Player - New Firmware V3.6

So I tried it with my phone which use AAC, same problems, heavy static and cut off every 5 min.

However, I tried resetting to factory setting and the problem seems to subdue.

SBC stills have that statics and sometimes, and complete silence for a good 30 sec every now and then but at much more acceptable rate now (I'd say every 1-2 hours). So I guess that's normal for Bluetooth connection? But the effective range is very short, I have to sit within 5 feet from my sources, otherwise the static will come in and cut out happens constantly, which won't go away until I restart the Bluetooth (turn off and on) on M0.

AAC on the other hand seems to work fine even at long range.

One last thing, is shutting itself down when it's fully charged normal behavior for the M0?

In my experience, AAC is always codec with best connection. For that reason you see so many truly wireless IEMs using AAC.
Can you tell me what source/phone are you using when facing these problems with SBC?

Shutting down on fully charge is change software team made to both M0 and M5s. They didn't really looked into all user scenarios, so we will need to adjust it a little bit to be more practical.

Hi all,
Just bought an M0 (coming from a previous M1). Love the thing. Seems there's still some issues with the m3u playlists when the song has special characters in the metadata.Saw previous comments that you're still working on both things so I don't care much.

Example: In the below file the M0 only shows until song 3 (releaser). As if the playlist only included those 3 songs. FW: 2.3 so it's on the latest update.
M1 can handle it okay (no problems whatsoever with this same playlist), and even when it can't handle it, shows as a file that can't play or some errors in the name and skips it.

Also, felt that the leather case would benefit from a lanyard attachment so I modded mine. Even made me a leather Shanling lanyard from an old elastic lanyard I had around. Ended up all super solid and secure (Don't wan't to drop this little guy).
Pictures below.

Will see if I can make some playlist with similar thing to test it out.

Shanling , could you please write a script so that when playing the MO in the car the artist and track information come up with
a Bluetooth connection ?

Thanks .

Unfortunately this is not about script, but about using different BT profile. No plans to add it now, since it could be causing some other problems.

So tried adding é to playlist. No change, no problem.

Tried to change filename to put there three dots. Also no impact on possibility to view and play whole playlist.

Can you please upload your album (google drive) and send it to me for testing?

I tested it with the iMac late 2009 and Thinkpad X240 both with default wireless/bluetooth chipset.

One more question for the DAC functionality of the M0, Could I use it with as a stand alone DAC with my PC (source) and an external amp? I assume I have to connect it to the external amp via a coaxial cable (or 3.5mm to RCA depending on the amp input option), but will the signal be double-amped? by both the m0 internal amp and then the external amp?

Btw, is there any plan for queueing option for folders/songs/albums ?

Huh? Strange. I already sent you a PM with the files. Got the same error happening in some other files, I'll try to see if I can find what's going on.

The program used to make the playlists is Mp3tag. Pretty solid software as far as I can tell.

+1 for the queueing option

@Shanling

So here's something. If I disable extended info on the playlist it works fine.

New playlist looks like this:

So it seems that it struggles with the metadata. What I don't know is why didn't happen in your case.
Please check with the files I sent you.

I've encountered a problem with the bluetooth, but I can't really say it is the fault of the M0, just fishing around for possible solutions.

I have used the AAC codec on the M0 before with bluetooth over-ear headphones and they worked very well. Recently though, I got a true wireless earphone that supports SBC and AAC. It works fine on SBC, but on AAC, it connects and no sound comes out. You can tell that it is trying to play something because the background hiss kind of leaves when I hit play, but there is no music, just an absence of hiss. It almost feels like when my android phone connected in phone audio but not media audio. Anyways, I am still waiting for a response from the earphone makers, but I am wondering if there is any solution or anything I can do on the M0 side of things to push it into working properly.

Well, just checking your files on my computer, when I open it in notepad, instead of "é", it only shows question mark.
When I write there "é" myself, it works fine.

So now I'm puzzled, what did mp3tag put there, so that you can see it on your computer, but my Windows 10 can't recognize it?

Upon further investigation I found that 'é and ¿" were the characters stopping my 490+ song playlist from working properly. I removed those characters from the playlist and the song title and all is well.

Okaaay, Got it. Was being super curious myself.

My m3u playlists are created encoded using ANSI (default program behaviour, can't be changed). If I save them as UTF-8 manually, they work no problem. Even if they have the extended info.
Honestly, my new playlists with no extended info are still encoded using ANSI and yet all work perfecly. It seems that by not using special characters from the tags it doesn't cause problems.

I guess that the M1 was able to read ANSI playlists with special characters and M0 can't.
Seems as playlist encoded using ANSI are not fully supported.

Mistery solved I guess, haha. Your PC is probably just trying to read them as UTF-8 (IDK, not an expert).
Can you ask your team for proper playlist support when encoded using ANSI?

Yeah, been there. Might want to check all the á, é, í, ó, ú and ñ obviouly. Also french songs using â, ê, î, ô, û and ä, ë, ï, ö, ü and also ç.
In my case I deleted the opening exclamation marks from spanish "¡", as well as the opening question mark "¿".

"The phrase ANSI character set has no well-defined meaning" - quote from Wikipedia - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ANSI_character_set
It's much better to support UTF-8. ANSI codes change their meanings depending on how you set up the locale on your computer.
