That is local update via USB drive. I was trying OTA update via wifi.NO, the ET3 does not have an internal mass storage, it needs to copy the update to an external mass storage, any USB flash drive will be fine.

No, I'm talking about the update via OTA. You have to connect a USB flash drive to the device before updating and then start the OTA update via wifi, it doesn't seem difficult to me. If ET3 tells you when you start the OTA update that it can't find the Udisk there must be a reason, don't you think? That is local update via USB drive. Yes, this is correct, there must be USB drive inserted into the ET3 (and have some empty space), for the OTA firmware to be downloaded. That is local update via USB drive. Thanks @Shanling . That's the explanation I'm looking for. In your daps and m30, when you reference OTA, it means over the air wifi updates. Hence, I was confused.Yes, this is correct, there must be USB drive inserted into the ET3 (and have some empty space), for the OTA firmware to be downloaded.
Added this now to the Firmware instructions, to make it more clear.
Shanling, can you please tell me an online store where I can purchase your L8 I2S cable? I can't find it, thanks.Yes, this is correct, there must be USB drive inserted into the ET3 (and have some empty space), for the OTA firmware to be downloaded.

I doubt it is possible since there is no ROM storage in the device unlike a DAP.So, will it ever be implemented: OTA FW updates like your DAPs and M30?
Makes sense. In which case, the menu then needs to reflect that.I doubt it is possible since there is no ROM storage in the device unlike a DAP.
Exact. It doesn't seem complicated to me to connect a USB flash drive to the ET3 and easily do the OTA update via WiFi. Because the ET3 *has* the OTA update, I have done two since I have this device and always via wifi. There's a bit of confusion here today.I doubt it is possible since there is no ROM storage in the device unlike a DAP.
When you try to update without a USB drive, you get a warning from the device you're using that it can't find the udisk. Already here you should have a suspicion. Then, when you are told over and over again by those who have been using it for months and even by the manufacturer of the device...Well to be fair, if the manual doesn't tell you to insert a usb drive, it's not surprising people get confused.
I agree, they could do more. I took it on faith, given Shanling's long experience with CD players. I took a look at Schiit's website, it doesn't seem to have anything extraordinary, on the contrary. For example it does not have I2S output. And it costs almost double. The ET3 honestly sounds really good and has an astonishing build quality.Would be nice to see more online attention. All the reviews seem to be about the Urd, which I reckon is an inferior product with a very niche use case.
So, will it ever be implemented: OTA FW updates like your DAPs and M30?

Hi Shanling, would be grateful if you could look into adding squeezelite functionality to the ET3, thanks
