Your posts are off-topic, but if money's no concern:
RS180 or RS220 + Essence ST or Essence STX (if you don't have 1x spare PCI slot)*
That is all you need to know really...
 
 
*There's prolly better external cards, but internals are handy for various reasons.
And the ST/STX are still amongst the best internals.

Has anyone resolved " hacked" the RS 170 to prevent sleep mode requiring a turn on of the transmitter ?  Is there a work around available with orv without voiding the warranty?
 
Do the standard rechargable batteries work as a back up?

Hi, I am a newbie in this but as far as I know there are several ways to hook my new RS170 to my system. I have a Samsung UN46D6450 ,a Denon 590 receiver and a LG 670 BRP.
First...As far as I know If I hook my transmitter to the TV audio out...since it is a fixed audio I need to decrease the TV volume and depend on the headset volume. Is that correct?
Second, I may hook the transmitter to the front headphoneout jack of my Denon, but I would need to turn on the Receiver since I use it mostly "passthrough"
My reason to use the Sennheiser is for not disturbing my sleeping wife...
Third, I may hook the transmitter to the LG.
 
Which of the three options would be bette rin term of AQ.??

Ive just returned the RS 180s because the transmitted range was only 65ft, and thats not acceptable since this was nearly line of sight too (one walk/brick veneer) with a window between myself and the transmitter. Im considering buying the RS170s, but alas Jalyst mentioned that the RS180s have better range...can anyone advise me more about the RS170s' range more precisely!...thanks !!

It's strange that you've only managed a range of 65ft for your RS 180. In an open environment, it should offer up to 320 ft (line of sight). Did you get a chance to check the direct transmission range (line of sight between transmitter and headphones in an open space without any walls or other hindrance) before any cut-offs? If it still offered poor range, then it was probably a faulty unit.
 
The RS 170 offers a range of up to 260 ft (line of sight).

Hey Rosmadi,                                                                                                                                         I appreciate your reply to my situation. I did not try the 'direct' transmission method that you mentioned. It wouldn't matter anyways because I'd never use the transmitter outside! I agree that it could possibly be a faulty unit! I most likely will try the RS170s as I prefer the closed back feature better! I only bought the RS180s because the RS170s were out-of-stock.  I'm sorry I haven't replied to you sooner as I am a new member and I am not familiar with navigation within this site...I'll keep you posted on the results of the RS170s...Thanks again !!...beerhunt

I have had Rs 180 for a while and V Moda V 80 for a few weeks. As far as sq, there is no comparison. Rs 180 are  fantastic..

hi everybody
for those that own a RS 170, I ask an help for a test.
Well, use your headset RS170 as usual, connected to a TV system or a Hifi. Start to listen to music or film (no matter) and then put the TV or HiFi in "mute", so the Trasmition base continues to transmit to the headset but there is no "sound" to listen. Well, did you hear some noise? some "whistle", like a continuous "vvvvvvvvvvvv"?

Nice to hear that the SQ from this is pretty nice considering they are wireless, I have a friend of mine who wants to have some wireless Head Phones and I think he might even want them to be portable... Still it's good to hear positive reviews.
 
Still my question is, can you have this as a portable setup? Or does the receiver require Wall power or does it have it's own battery, imo the only thing that really defines portability is restrictions on power, so ideally it might be a BAD idea to carry these around with you BUT so long as they can be powered "on the go" then I'll let him know it's possible to use them as a wireless portable set up

Both the RS 180 and RS 170 come with a multi-purpose transmitter which also functions as an 'easy charge' cradle and docking station. Both models' transmitters need to be powered from a wall outlet hence, they aren't too portable.
 
For a portable wireless set up, you may want to consider the RS 160 - it comes with a compact transmitter which allows for listening at home, on-the-go or at the office. The transmitter also runs on either AC or battery.

Yes, most definitely. In fact, I've using the RS 170 together with my laptop in the office right now.
