btw Rosmadi, aro senn planning to make a version that is tuned less aggressively?  something akin to hav the IE7 sounds rather than the IE8 type signature the 180 have?

i really like mine and the wireless but particularly the treble is just too much for me to use all day.

Mark,

We're working on some exciting new products though I can't really reveal all the juicy details ( hey, I may get them wrong too! ). But rest assured that we're listening and paying close attention to your feedback  :)

oh good stuff, the 180 (that i have on right now) are excellent but oh god they are a big dramatic V shaped sound and even though im tearing my way through a bottle of Hendricks the treble is just much too much.

give me that lovely IE7 sound sig with with the 180 (and do a closed 170 type one too) style freedom.  so i can listen and go to to the fridge for top ups still listening

Is there any other use of Sennheiser TX-180 transmitter than powering only these great earphones?
I'll be happiest man in the world if able to use wireless/outdoor speakers through the same transmitter I'm using at night.

Read somewhere about D&A RX1 addon to iPod docks... but never seen such in any shop. I know also about Arcam r-Cube... but this I'm not sure if is best for me. And that's it - nothing more... would be a big waste if no more possibilities to enjoy this wonderful audio transmission technology (Kleer... to name it).

Any feedback appreciated as I'm desperately and unsuccesfully looking around for some time already.

Hello

I currently have RS130 but looking to upgrade. So far can't see past the RS180/RS170, although as these are two years old wondering if anything new/better is available now? Any one have any experience with the Sony MDR-DS6500 or know where I can read a review?

How does the RS180 vs RS170 compare, bass wise? Can't stand lack of bass so would be willing to sacrifice a bit of SQ for better bass if this is the case for RS170. For example I recently purchased the Sony MDR RF4000 and while the clarity and detail was much greater than my RS130, the bass was poor in comparison and so stuck with the RS130.

Thank you

I used two sets of the RS130 for years and went with the RS180 now.   I chose the RS180 for two main reasons.  They are open like the 130 and they have the midrange boost instead of simulated surround like the 130 and closed 170.  I never used the surround in the 130 because I thought it degraded the sound.   The 180 is a big step up from the 130 and I have no regrets.

I too never use the surround on the 130 as I prefer a true sound rather than simulated, so wouldn't miss that feature if I was to choice the 180 over the 170, however the bass boost on the 170 does appeal to me. I have no doubt the 180 will be a big improvement on over the 130 but just trying to determine if I should go for the 180 over the 170 with regards to better bass?

I've read through all 15 pages of this thread and while many would agree the 180 is overall better, as said I would happily sacrifice a bit of SQ for better bass. I know there is a user within this thread who own both (can't remember there name now though) that I would love to hear from and get their verdict on bass between the two please?

The "bass-boost" doesn't mean anything, pretty-much a gimmick like the simulated surround.
There are far better simulated surround options than what the 170 uses...

The bass on the 180 is just as good as the 170, whilst the 180 is better in other -IMO- more important  regards.
It's all been discussed on this thread....

I discussed it all in-depth with senn. reps over the course of few months via email (to the point of driving them nuts).
As I was worried I may lose some qualities by going with the 180, but it's simply not the case.

Only reason to pick the 170 is if you want cheaper, or you think the noise emanating is going to be too distracting to those around you.
Or if you think the noise around you is going to leach into your 180's too much.  That's it.

The only way to test the latter two, is by going into a store and asking to try them both out.

Do note though, according rosmadi, there may some successors to this range coming soon.
So you may be better off waiting a few more months...
Then again you may not, no idea on time-frame for release of this new range yet.

Thanks guys. Went ahead with the RS180's. Not blown away by the SQ as many others seem to be, but only had a day so hopefully SQ will improve after burn in. Bass is just OK, nothing special, wishing it was stronger.
