Sennheiser IE900 Review, Measurements, & Harman Target Talk

I own both the KSE1200 and the ie900 and I don't agree that the latter beats the former except in the convenience of not having the extra amp and thicker cable needed for the HV KSE.
In pure technicalities for sure it won’t.
But if the tuning and presentation clicks with the listener’s preferences, then it’s a done deal. It’s the best IEM for that person.

I’m almost done writing my review, just a few more personal edits and off it goes to the gf to edit.

But back to the KSE… I want one still 😂

I agree. Before the IE900 I put a lot of weight on technicalities in my assessments. That's still true, but tuning >>> technicalities for me. If the KSE1200 sounds anything like Stax headphones, it wouldn't be my cup of tea either (and based on most reviews I've read/see, that seems to be the case). And besides, anything other than DD bass in an IEM is a poor imitation if you ask me.

I once saw a post that describes the KSE as the perfect IEM for Spock, I can’t argue with that! In the right mood it’s probably second to none but for 95% of the time the IE900 is just better IMO.

The wait for your review is a bit too long, and so I’ve placed an order with my dealer 😁 hoping to get them 2nd week of July.

Could somebody answer my question, that is the following: my Sennheiser IE 800 S with the AK Norma is sounding better with the 2.5 mm cable as with the 3.5 mm standard, or not?
With 2.5 you getting more power , hence can improve sound.

I'm running my IE 900's up to 85- 90 volume through balanced, my other iems would be around 55-70. SE would require even higher volume, probably close to max (120), and would they be getting enough 'juice' to reach their full potential?

Out of curiosity, what DAP do you run? Is AK sp1000m just insanely powerful or am I crazy? I don’t even go beyond volume 25 on my vision ears ve8 on balanced mode. I can’t imagine going around 70-80 out of 150 😅

It's a Sony ZX507 uncapped model, but it's small compared to others so not very powerful, ok for iem's for which it was intended.

I run off both ZX507 and NW-WM1A, max I need is mid 50s on both. Are you streaming or from local files? I don't really stream but the occasional time I have on the ZX507, I did need to crank it up a lot.

On my Sony WM1A (Region E & FEv2 custom FW), I'm using 4.4mm out, high gain, vol at 50. I'm sure there's "better" (there always is), but I am really liking this, and even better (for me): I am simply enjoying this. No, "ZOMG!! Dat BASS! Dat cymbal crash!!" When I utter things like that, it typically means I'll tire of it soon enough and move on to something else. Maybe I'm weird, hahaha. YMMV.
