Hi everyone!
Tiger is finally ready to report on ie900! ROARS
The mighty Ie900 is a fabulous little creation coming from sennheiser family to make a lot of happy music lovers. This little iem is yet so compact and easy to carry around into your everyday's life style, with the offering of a very high quality music reproduction abilities.
I really enjoy the ie900 it has an amazing really well tuned (single dd) signature sound that brings you the joy and have great moments between you and your favorite music. You can easily forget time essence and all your daily routine duties with this magical and fun ie900 offerings
Now what does it really offer under the hood

does it stand as a flagship killer for the mighty 4 digits super stars iems that probably only 5% of headfiers can buy? Oh and does it tackle Tigers lifetime most favorite and ultra Legendary Tia Fourté ?

Lets find out!
I can only compare the ie900 directly vs fourté as its the 2 iems I have on hands but I will also use memory to add small comparisons vs other iems I have listened.
Overall I will try to be straight and direct so you can locate and have a good idea where does ie900 goes and lands with its ability and limits.
Overall tonality:
Ie900 sounds very linear/coherent across the whole spectrum thanks to its super capable 7mm (or 7.7mm not sure lost track there

) It is not a flat line by all means, so dont expect to face a super flat and highly studio reference sound here.
Ie900 has an equality in elevation peaks in bass and treble, with treble being a tad little pinch bit higher to make it more fun. The mids due to this may give a small perception of being gently U shaped, its really small and not always this way. I mean your brain will adapt and it will actually be an interesting effect that is part of the sound signature.
About the different tone timbers reproduction, it has the ability to show you different timbers with not too much emphasis, meaning its not as deeply digging into this kind of nuances but yet still gives a glimpse of its presence. You can feel the layers but it gets a bit difficult as you may need a very high end dap or desktop unit to grasp this meticulous type of details.
TREBLE:
The treble on ie900 has different points of possible adjustments, with or without the little foam inside the stock eartip. With the little foam the treble is how I personally like it more because the treble is never breaching my comfort zone, even I'd go further by saying its in the extra safe zone. Like a tad too tamed down for what I would consider to be the proper all arounder. Like it works superbly with a brighter source or music type. If you listen to classical music then you would need to remove the foamy inside to make sure you get the 100% full treble sparkle and airness out of it.
So ie900 is great! You got the ability to tweak it to your liking!
MIDS:
This section for me is all about vocals, I would say ie900 represents well the vocals giving them a nice full timbre and sublime clarity. It can be very sweet and enchanting as there pretty much no ssshh and tshhhh problems at all, of course that's with foames inside. I am sorry I haven't tried this part without them. Male vocals are full and well bodied, very neet to listen to strong heavy throaty singers.
Female voices are not so thin and not piercy, I feel if you want highly energetic female vocals especially in the higher trebles to be like more pronounced you may want to take the foam inside the tip out. Then youl get those high sensitive soul tickling notes.
I would add also that the bass to mids bloat is very well controlled and is not strong. I will still consider a multi ba or hybrid iems to win this part as they are completely eliminated there. With ie900 you get a nice complete sound emission all at once like in a headphone. In hybrid iems its a little different and can be used as a sound effect thing to make certain frequency part to completely vanish and be dead quiet. Here on ie900 you will still hear all the frequencies and frequency splits are all joint together cause its only 1 DD, yet they are clean and minimal bloat presence.
Bass:
This is my favorite part of ie900

the bass is indeed very good and what grabs your attention. For my preference and tastes the bass is is the most important thing in an iem, if its done wrong I won't like! We got a very good control and it drops very low in the sub region, though not as low as subterranean like fourté or trio does it ( maybe slightly less then ierz1r as well ) we definitely have a good amount of mid bass here, not overly crazy like the noirs

I would say its the ie900 signature. I also feel its more toward midbass set then subs. It has an amazing response with good bassy music like pop, reggae and edm, jazz... I could listen to ie900 endlessly, never had any tuning fatigue. Bass has definitely its presence so is treble, you never get a situation where for example you have too much bass or too high treble. You got an even elevation and that makes it much easier to enjoy and if needed to get deeper into details and nuances in a song as you dont have an imbalance in sound. Situations like you like your bass in a song but the treble is too high so you can't enjoy the bass and need to lower the volume, then the fun is not fullfield. Ie900 does an excellent job here to give you full potential to love every bite of your favorite music!
So bass has an excellent controle and fullfil the demand for good connoisseur for bass craves
The speed!
Ie900 offers a speed in decay that is almost perfect! I think for majority it will be perfect. Its faster then ierz1r but slower by couple micrones then fourté. I think its better that way for them as they are the option #1 for a good all arounder solution.
Cause they are borderline too fast for classic music or audiophile in my perception. But for FUN man its perfect speed! Just for edm I like it a tad faster to be more Woaw.
Transitions:
In this segment I am referring to how notes after reproduction are transitioning in between from 1 to next one.
This is like when you got an effect of a music going on and it can be like a floating effect or stretching time or a quick note appearance from the darkness ( stuff that are very present in edm ) I would say ie900 does this part less well, its not super in your face or sensable. Its there but maybe 45% of what fourté or trio has. I would say ie900 is more of a globalised sound presentation where everything is presented as 1. It doesn't split it self or separate anything in the music, it presents the whole picture as 1 and you enjoy the show

.
Fourté and Trio are the masters of edm I yet have discovered anything that does edm better.
Resolution:
We have a good level of resolution, you can easily dive into discoveries of your music here. It will show details with clarity and good definition, everything is defined and easy to pickup. I would not call it the master of resolution like the big flagship iems, yet it provides all the necessary.
Imaging:
They have a good sense of instrument separation without any signs of haze or smeariness. Things are perfectly clean and clear.
You can differentiate every instrument in a busy passage without issues.
But you wont get stuff like on Fourté where you can travel threw atmosphere to each instrument and examine its own little atmosphere of that particular instrument to which you just thrown your attention at. With fourte you have like a 3d holographic world map and you travel instantly threw the depths and heights of the whole location where the music is being reccorded and you simply see threw every aspect and nuances of all the music at same time.
With ie900 things are not as super deep or holographic they are more like closer and intimate 1 on 1 presentation like in a small concert room, while fourte is the universe sized dimensions at your finger tips

Soundstage:
This is where I cover how the instruments are localized and positioned in the music.
Ie900 has high level of extension in depths you can sense the sound to cover large expansions in travel. For example echoes has a good amount of travel distances which gives the perfect and slightly higher then out of your head expansion. As a result it makes the ie900 a very fun and pleasant experience cause you have a very good sense of 3d dimensional sound perception, one thing though I find it has more depths then heights in holographic perception. Like lets say from left to right like 180° it has 100% coverage front and back is closer not as far going like the left to right, around 50% but the heights are quite short for me, the above and below my head.
I think it would looks like a spheric elliptic shape from left to right.
Sound pressure fatigue:
For my friends and apex lovers, I can safely say ie900 is pressure free experience and you can safely go for it. I will say that my brain did felt a slight change but nothing to make things unbarable or uncomfortable to npt being able to go threw 5+ listening sessions. The pressure is miniscule and I think no one will ever notice it as I haven't felt it that much. Lets say its 90% pressure free! And if you go silicons tips, boy it becomes like an open back iem lol.
Final thoughts and who is the ie900 for?
I have experienced a lot of iems and daps on my journey and finding something that has good value for the money and also being an outstanding best all arounder, the options are small here. I will say there is 2 best iems I know of that suites perfectly in this category, affordable and yet super capable. Best cost/performance ratio. Those are iE900 and Fir Audio VxV

there might be a few others around but this is the one I tried my self.
I dont consider ie900 to be in the ultra flagship lands but it is in my book located in the best mainstream flagship iems. It sounds better then any 1000$ iems and offer a near a la flagship tuning. The price reflects this, it is priced to be affordable to everyone so more people can enjoy quality music without seriously breaking the bank.
So to break the myths down no it does not surpass or equals iem like, ierz1r, fourté, trio, Lx, M5 etc
Sennheiser did an amazing work with this little iem, its impressive how a 7mm single DD can punch so high. If you want to enjoy and have lovely musical sessions without the extra hassles that many headfiers have cause we are chasing the never ending endgame gear

get those! Ie900 are impossible to not fall in love with them, they are made to make you happy and smile with tapping feet's
